I understand completely what my mans Joel is saying but comparing Ohio States Loss to Iowa and Bama’s lost to Auburn just isn’t fair. Bama loss to a team that Klat said himself on Undisputed was the worst matchup for Bama because of how well they run the ball and their defense. So Bama lost yes but Ohio State lost to a team that isn’t even ranked like really. And I could understand if they lost by 1 maybe 2 possessions but by 34... like Ohio State fans are just delusional sometimes. You can make the argument they shouldn’t have made it last year but did and now that they don’t they want to cry.

My opinion on this: Ohio State didn't get in because they lost to Iowa by 31. It has nothing to do with Alabama playing cupcakes, it has to do with the fact that Alabama doesn't have a terrible loss. If Ohio State didn't get creamed by Iowa, then they would've gotten in over Bama, plain and simple.

Scheduling harder opponents is not being discouraged. It is inherently a gamble: you win, it helps you tremendously (OSU 2016), but you are more likely to lose than scheduling a weaker foe that gives little for winning, but hurts a ton if you lose.

Last year an 11-1 Ohio St was chosen over a 2 loss Big 10 champ in Penn St who had beaten Ohio St. So we now have to pretend that precedent wasn’t set already now that it bites Ohio St?

As an Alabama fan I am praying that next year we get the Ohio State as our first cupcake of the year. Then we won't even have this to debate at the end of the season.

Analysis of schedules by adding up each of the final Sagarin's national rank of each opponent then dividing by the number of games played Georgia 51, Clemson 52.7, Ohio 53, Oklahoma 59, Alabama 60 ( the lower number indicates a stronger strength of schedule ) The weakest teams on Georgia schedule were Samford and Tennesee which finished the season ranked 115th and 92nd respectively. Clemson played Kent State 181 and Citadel 173. Ohio's two weakest teams were Illinois126 and UNLV 118 Oklahoma had UTEP and Kansas which finished the season 200th and 157th. Alabama had one weak opponent, Mercer, which finished the season at 149th. Alabama finishes at the bottom because they played the softest schedule with only one highly ranked (lower number) team Auburn. The three reasons Oklahoma will win it all, best offense, improved defense, and Baker Mayfield/Lincoln Riley.

I think they should expand the playoffs a little. All power 5 winners should make it, and then 1 or 3 other teams get in. Also, I don't think Ohio State should be punished for scheduling a harder schedule then Bama. Also, as a Ohio State fan, I don't believe we belong in the playoffs this year, because I think Bama is better

I think a good way to think about Alabama's resume would be to think about if they were a different team. If this Bama team had this resume and instead were say LSU, would we say they should get in? No. We'd say that LSU is only good because they'd only played bad teams, which is exactly what Bama has done and yet they're supposedly the 4th best team in the nation.

I would like to take a serious vote. Who feels had Clemson or Oklahoma ( or quite frankly,ANY non-SEC team)been in the exact position with the exact set of circumstances been sitting exactly where Alabama sits in the playoffs??? Exactly what I thought!!!

The SEC and ACC aren't going to play 9 conference games like the rest of the country because it's very obvious that they have a huge advantage to making the college football playoffs by NOT doing so, and instead scheduling teams like Troy, Mercer, blah blah. And while I am not saying OSU should be in, or USC, or even Alabama - reality is that the committee has proven itself to be corrupt every single year, making upnew excuses that suit them to put in the 4 teams they feel like putting in. This is why there needs to be a 16 team playoff system because 10, count it, 10 of those spots would not be based on any preconceived bias. I love Joe Klatt, but I disagree expanding the playofss makes it worse because there isn't a "4th deserving" team this year. It can be argued the other 3 don't deserve it either if you check schedules and check who they lost to and by how much. They just happened to have weak Out of conference games. 16 team playoff at least eliminates arguments over 10 spots - there are currently 10 D1 leagues. You take the champ from each league and you're in. No more wondering hey, could UCF actually beat any of these other teams (only undefeated team in D1 football). Is tOSU or alabama better? Doesn't matter - 16 team playoff lets you PROVE IT ON THE FIELD. It levels the playing field between all conferences, instead of the power 5, and it still allows 6 wild cards to get in. You want alabama in this year with georgia in a guaranteed spot? Great, they are in as a wild card. tOSU automatically is in. USC is automatically in. Is Wisconsin ranked 6? Great, they lost - but they are one of a handful of one loss teams - so the nab a WC spot. The WC is how Notre Dame can get in. Blah blah. And none of this devalues the season. Because: 1. You need to win your conference for a guaranteed spot 2. To get one of only 6 wild card spots, you better have a better resume than other teams. You might think "hey, all the losers of the power 5 conferences get in" - but do they? Even if they have 3 or 4 losses? Probably not. The easiest way to have an undisputed championship. You DO settle it on the field. You can argue all you want about spot 16 and who should have it and there would still be some controversy. But what doesn't exist in this scenario is any question over who the champ is. IE, whoever comes out of that 16 won't have to defend their title against naysayers over team 17 that was left out. Right now, you can easily argue hey, whoever wins the title - they never had to play the Big 10 or Pac 12 champ. How do we know those teams aren't better than the other teams in? Because USC lost to Notre Dame? So? How do we know Wisconsin, who by the way - almost beat OSU, isn't better than the other 1 loss teams? We don't. We have no real evidence to point at and be like HEY, UCF WOULDN'T STAND A CHANCE. What I am saying here, is that every football league in the US uses this very playoff format EXCEPT D1, and I don't know why we're avoiding it in D1. It would make the NCAAF way more money, engage way more fans. We're not talking about a 68 team NCAA tournament that gives everyone a chance. We're talking about 16 teams where all 10 conference champs are in. This proves it on the field and ends all the stupid "which conference is better and which team is more deserving" nonsense. Right now, nothing is proven on the field for the most part.

They're making the case for an expanded playoff, make it 16 team tournament, you not only have great matchups just look at the potential bracket but also it gives USC, Ohio State, and UCF a chance to prove it in the field, lets see who's really the best like EVERY other level of sports does it

Basically, reward Alabama for playing a cupcake schedule and punish OSU for not. If OSU plays Mercer instead of Oklahoma, they’re a 1 loss conference champ who’s 3-0 in the top 16 and this isn’t even a debate.

Make it an 8 team playoff top 4 teams get a home game then have the semis and final the way it is now. The problem with 4 spots is that there's 5 major conferences and if you expand the number of teams it will incentivize teams to schedule tougher because there's more wiggle room. USC at Clemson, auburn at Oklahoma, Wisconsin at Georgia, Ohio state at Alabama could you imagine how great a weekend of those match ups would be? There's a month between the last game and the playoff just have 2 weeks between games and it's set

Okay, Klatt was driving me crazy for most of this conversation, but when he suggested dropping Conference Divisions so that the two best teams in each conference play each other in their conference championship (and it becomes, essentially, a Playoff Quarterfinal), I was ALL IN. That's a freaking great idea.

I can get over Ohio State being out, but there was no argument for Alabama besides "We're the best because we are". All the talking points were against OSU because Alabama had nothing to rest on besides past success (which the committee says doesn't matter).

Georgia at this point in the season with the best running game by far, best linebackers and rapidly improving quarterback just needs to play like they did in the SEC Championship and none of these teams can beat them. Remember Clemson losing to a very weak Syracuse team and Oklahoma losing to a very weak Iowa State team and giving up tons of points to a terrible Baylor team. I would suspect an all SEC final.

Agree with Colin Coward and Joel Klatt on both ACC and SEC must play 9 regular conference games. Also, each power five conference team must schedule at least one another power five game from another conference. Notre Dame and BYU should join Big12. UMass and Army to FCS Southern? Good Idea on #1 plays #2 for each of power 5 conference championships, Joel. Ranking/Seeding of 2 semifinals by committee made of members equally from power 5 conferences.

here’s why ohio state shouldn’t be in over bama. i get the strength of victory thing isn’t there for bama, but what has ohio state done that’s so impressive? they got crushed by iowa. 55-24. DA HECK?!? that alone should be enough in my opinion. but if it’s not, then they also got killed by oklahoma AT HOME. so there you have it. you’ve seen ohio state get crushed by a playoff team, and you’ve also seen ohio state get crushed by iowa. why do they need to get another chance here? don’t give them the benefit of the doubt again. last year, they got shut out in the playoff. don’t make the same mistake twice. “but they beat penn st” save it. it took a miracle for them to pull that off, and they only won by 1 point at home. a real playoff team would’ve won by 14. gimme a break. so yeah, i know bama doesn’t have a strong win. but they only have one loss, and that one loss is on the road to what is now the #7 team in the country. what’s so bad about that? bama’s one loss isn’t even as bad as ohio state’s better loss. and i didn’t even mention that bama didn’t lose 55-24 to iowa. now i did tho

Ohio state was undoubtedly one of the best in 2015 but i don't care if they got in this year. If anything USC or someone else should've gotten in not a team that lost its last game. That's as bad as in 2003 Oklahoma going against lsu instead of USC.
