Dr. Primack is an American astrophysicist, known worldwide as one of the creators of the ΛCDM model, the modern cosmological standard framework of particle physics. He was the first to suggest that the lightest supersymmetric particle is a natural candidate for dark matter, which led to the hypothesis of warm dark matter and then to the development of the theory of cold dark matter, which has become the basis for the standard modern picture of structure formation in the Universe. He has been using supercomputers to simulate and visualize the evolution of the Universe and the formation of galaxies under various assumptions, and comparing the predictions of these theories to the latest observational data. He organized and led the University of California Center for High-Performance Astro-Computing. Together with more than 200 refereed articles in scientific journals, he also co-authored several popular science books and articles. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Excellent talk.

Another interesting webinar, please keep them coming. Some of us think dark energy (and matter) are placeholders for missing dynamics in GR, namely asymmetric GR which leads to a running coupling and in the Newtonian limit leads to models like MOND. Yes, we need more data and less modeling/parameter fitting, replete in LCDM.

You seems to be very intelligent, can you provide one measurable, repeatable and observable proof of the globe?

Sorry for my rant. Here I am, a year later, vastly more knowledgeable and disappointed and these priests of dark matter. Subir Sarkar published a series of papers disproving the “accelerated expansion” with higher confidence than it was first ‘proven’ and subsequently Reese and perlmutter got the Nobel prize. Our cosmology is broken. Basic assumptions at its foundations are demonstrably wrong. We are not Copernican observers in a homogeneous and isotropic universe with dark matter and dark energy. I’d be glad to go over all this point by point.

@@stolearovigor281I could name several my friend- but you will dismiss them all because you’re actually an ideological zealot. Surely, you could observe the curvature of the earth by simply placing a camera or telescope one foot off the ground looking toward the horizon at waters edge at a beach next to an ocean. You can plainly see the curvature. Even more plainly, at the next lunar eclipse, observe the shadow of our earth pass over the moon. You will see a disk, a globe, a sphere with bulging equators and flattened poles to be precise. These should satisfy you plainly but it won’t because you’re ideologically captured. I suppose you don’t believe in satellites and rockets- Thing is, all you guys who deny such things modern science has proven beyond doubt, none of you actually know the details. You simply assume the details, decide that your incorrect assumption makes no sense, then use your false premise as a reason why it can’t be true. Your depriving yourself of such a beautiful and rich world and reality.

Excellent gold webinars, but they take a long time to put them in Spanish. Paul Steinhardt's webinar does not appear in either English or Spanish.

Excelentísimos webinars de oro, pero demoran mucho para ponerlos en español. El webninar de Paul Steinhardt no aparece ni en inglés o español..

If it's not in English or Spanish, wtf is it in? Creole? I must investigate what must be a typo or lost in translation...

Yeah, Joel, now imagine that you're on that invisible ocean of Dark Matter and Dark Energy... Next imagine that you're on a ship. We'll call it the Titanic (since figuratively, you are). And you're heading straight for an iceberg, because the captain of the ship is an old guy, we all grew up with him, and he used to be a good seaman. But as new technology came along, instead of adjusting his course, he just made excuses for why his old ways were better (we'll call those excuses "parameters"). And the longer he kept the wheel, the more his friends (we'll call his friends "grants") told him that he was doing great - just sail straight ahead! His friends were so vested in their favorite captain that they didn't even notice that now he was actually blind. Of course, we all know what happens to the Titanic, but does anyone remember the captain's name? I don't know his name. I just remember that his initials were LCDM. And like Flat Earth, Epicycles and Spiral Nebula, LCDM died.
