This video was recorded on Nov. 18th 2014 at the Sustainable Agriculture Symposium sponsored by the Idaho Center for Sustainable Agriculture. This is segment 3 of 3 of a lecture by Joel Salatin.
- work with and on the landscape - eclectic awareness - entrepreneurial "can do" spirit - live frugaly - assemble your team - direct market - gross-margin analysis for each production - multi-entreprise - time and motion studies - portable farming
- Make just enough money to pay your property taxes. :) - 40 years ago, everyone knew that the skin and fat of chickens was *good for you*! (And on a pasture-fed chicken that has not been dusted with toxins, or had it's bedding dusted with toxins, or raised on medicated feed... that eats bugs & grass along with a healthy ration, that gets sunshine and fresh air - it IS!) Not to mention that the skin and bone adds a lot of flavor! - *"The solution is the compilation of a lot of little things done right."* Joel Salatin - 'And it doesn't regulation. It doesn't take litigation. It doens't take negotiation. It doesn't even take a non-profit organization.' Joel Salatin - BTW, borrowing from another fast-food outlet, we call that glued together food-like substance "Chicken preTenders."
Wish we had videos of Joel going over his exact organic methods for PLANTS. I don't try to make a buck off of dead animals, both for spiritual/religious reasons and for health/nutrition reasons.
What religion? Christians and Jews are given dominion over livestock to eat. Genesis 9:3. Animal based nutrition is the most bioavailable nutrition for humans. Humans aren’t designed by our creator to metabolize vegetables efficiently.
In this age it doesn't hurt to have some offense. When the global warming people come to your business and demand to know what you are doing to "reduce your carbon footprint" you can ask them how many animals were tortured to supply them with food that day. The best DEfense is a good OFFense... Pretty soon those folks decide to look for someone easier and stop coming around...
The landscapes aren't "broken" by nature. Nature can manage quite OK without man. Man needs the rest of nature in order to survive, so as Joel says, we have to harness it harmoniously for our requirements. But nature doesn't need us to heal it, it can heal itself if we leave it be.
I was Owner/Operator of myHair Salon for 12 years. I wanted that lil ole lady that gets her hair roller set every week vs the lady who spends $200 once every six months😊❤️✌🏻Life Is Good
In Regards to Salatin's "...stand toe to toe with a forbes ceo..." comment. Farmers manage trillions of employee's. aka microbes. Some dont manage them all that well.
Agrarian life (feifdom, as he calls it) has *always* been grounded in community and multiple generations working for a common purpose. This way of life has been lost in the land and time of individual pursuit.
God didn’t say that, dipstick. You’re confusing Greek philosophers with the word of the Bible. Joel is a deeply religious man and would definitely not blaspheme the word of the Lord. Your comment is not well-thought out and offensive. You won’t like my rebuke, but I’m not going to debate it with you. If you’re truly Christian, humble yourself and heed the advice.
" I dont believe in evolution" What?? Is he serious? Evolution is a fact. Undeniable fact. How could someone like him who understands how the environment works not believe in evolution? Oh wait. I forgot the power of religious indoctrination. How stupifying it can be. How it can make people say really ignorant statements like " I dont believe in evolution". Wow
And your close-mindedness is atrocious. I used to believe in evolution, but now I don’t. Does it make you feel more independent and stronger by denying God? Feel however you wish, but don’t give me your degrading opinions based upon science. Confusing mutation with evolution does not support your conclusions. The fossil record doesn’t support evolution, Darwin’s theories have been disproven.
@@Skashoon that is a ridiculous and incorrect statement. Evolution has not been disproved. The fossil record does support evolution. And so does DNA and every other evidence for evolution. Go do your research because someone has lied to you and you have closed your mind to the facts. And yes I do feel independent and stronger. I could never submit to the malevolent bully you call god, even though he is imaginary.
1) Humans are not native to earth 2) Humans are genetically manipulated by highly evolved species per our "evolution" because true evolution takes BILLIONS of years, not Millions. You are in for a very big surprise.
