Joellyn tows a trailer for the first time ever. Then, drives through a Texas slalom, and backs up the trailer into their beautiful ranch property. Wow! Joellyn also gives us a short tour of their quiet piece of paradise.
We custom-painted this RVHauler to match the color scheme on Joellyn's DRV Suites 5th wheel coach.
If you see this rig on the road or in the campground, be sure to give Joellyn a big wave from me at RVHaulers. Great driving Joellyn! I hope Mark never succeeds in prying your fingers off the steering wheel.

Ive been a Trucker for 37 years and I hafta say you picked the correct brand of truck for what youre doing. The first time I drove a Volvo it blew my mind. The Volvo I drove belonged to a friend and it was 15 years old and the cab had over 2,000,000 miles on it. I’m ashamed to say it was much quieter and much smoother riding than my brand new long nose 379 Peterbilt. My friend laughed at me and said; “I TOLD YOU SO BUT OH NO”, “YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE ME!”

it's amazing the feeling you get the first time you drive that big truck ,,alot of people are scared of them but don't know how to deal with it I personally grew up on a farm so i've been around big trucks and huge tractors but there is still a certain thrill i get when i start that big truck my truck isn't nearly as fancy as this beautiful RV hauler , bit more old school no electronic displays and manual 18speed transmission but the feeling is mutual it's very clear that she is absolutely enjoying driving that big truck ,,i still get the same feeling and i've been driving big trucks since i was 18 ,,driving the RV truck is a special freedom though cause i can literally go anywhere whenever i want and be comfortable there is a special kind of thrill when you climb a long steep mountain road and just listen to that big diesel scream ,,,and that's one thing mine does really well ,,screamin jimmy ,, a lot of guys have no clue what that means but anyone who has or has owned a detroit diesel knows ,,no noise on earth equals the sound of a 12V-71TT pulling a steep hill at 2400 rpm i heard them mention the difference between towing the 5th wheel with their dually and comparing it to the big truck for me it's like night and day cause even with the biggest pickup truck , when you go towing a 20K 5th wheel trailer your literally working it at max level ,,but that semi truck doesn't even notice it cause it's built to tow several times that ,, even mine which is considerably heavier than a semi tractor doesn't really care about the 30,000 pound trailer i built it to tow ,,the big issue with mine over this RV hauler you built is the length and turning radius ,,my truck alone is 39 feet long with 29 feet behind the driver and you add the 44ft trailer it's 77 feet overall over 10 feet longer than the average semi ,,normally i have to use a pull through campground site ,, and generally i have to use 2 spaces one for the trailer and a neighboring site for the truck I love it though and wouldn't change a thing about it

that is just awesome, first time out and both are able to adapt to driving a large rig. Even with some experience driving dually with trailer behind they were a bit tense and some the calmness came. Very nice video shots.

The hauler alone would make a great, durable and comfortable RV by itself. Ever consider converting one to a RV alone for a single or tight double occupancy?

Good Eye! Yes, I built that RVHauler initially for Joellyn and Mark, and then a number of years later The Watts purchased it! My RVhaulers last a long time. Thanks for watching, Gregg

Just an FYI, it is illegal to ride/sleep on the top bunk while the truck is in motion. DOT will nail you if you get caught.

Are they legally licensed to drive the combination unit?? Looks to me like they have never driven an air equipped vehicle before, is the trailer equipped with air brakes or hydraulic brakes?
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 8 лет назад
+Allan Mac Donald The trailers are electric brakes, or sometimes they are electric over hydraulic brakes.
@showcasecharlie11
@showcasecharlie11 6 лет назад
once it is classified as a rv, they are legal. but some states require a endorsement such as California, if you are pulling a rig over 10k for example. even motor coaches are similar, meaning the delivery driver must be a cdl with air brake endorsement to deliver but once purchaser takes delivery, his regular license is sufficient. There are opinions on that that vary. I myself believe there should be training involved when someone who has never driven anything bigger than a pickup now wants to drive a huge vehicle.

nice video i do have a question do you need to have a CDL -A license to drive that truck and trailer ?
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 8 лет назад
+jackefrost Most states allow us to operate these units withOUT cdl drivers licenses. They are titled as motorhomes.
