Before this custom RVHauler heads to PA, we show how the hydraulic loader (named the Phoenix Loader) works! Gregg also shows off some of the unique things that the customers requested for their RVHauler. That Phoenix loader is the "cat's meow". Congrats to Henry and Gregg for getting this awesome loader built. This loader has been improved greatly over time, and is certainly a great way to load a vehicle.

As usual, great video. With your customers permissions, more videos of their first drives and the training, and really enjoy seeing the ladies get behind the wheel for the first time and being so comfortable. Love Alana Sue, best inspiration ever for men or women to get in, grab the wheel and go. Keep up the great work.

Hi Rick, Thanks for watching our videos. I agree with you - the highlight of my job is getting to see my customers drive for the first time.

The tones that the bed makes when in motion sort of sings a tune of quality. If you work around hydraulics enough, you can hear the difference between something strong and durable and something cheap and straining. So I'd say your metal fabrication is well engineered and built, and the hydraulic motor is a strong one.
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 7 лет назад
Wow Kevin - thanks for the kind words. I tend to lean towards putting in systems that are a bit over-engineered. The goal is to lift just over 2000 lbs. I use a pump and hydraulics that is capable of 3200 lbs. Components tend to last a great deal longer if you buy quality and don't stress them too much. Thanks for watching my video!

Wow 👏 Very impressive on the lift. Have thought that it was possible 🤔, just wasn't sure if anyone had done it. Now can some sort of enclosure be designed to encapsulate a Harley trike?? A hinged fiberglass enclosure would be excellent 👌. Definitely will be in touch when the time comes. Time to build is what? Bed, lift? I am definitely going to be on the lookout for a donor truck. Possibly with the correct gears ⚙ Thanks.

Hi Adrian, There is a hydraulically powered motor installed to which we attached a drom onto which the cable spools on and off. Hopefully that makes sense! Thanks for the question. Gregg

Gregg, great video again! The improvements to this bed from the first you did a video on are great. On another subject, you had done a video on the passenger side steps to the cab and was looking for some ideas on how to make it a more accessible for someone who would have a hard time with climbing the steps. You did have an option of making a door at the rear but for me that wouldn't be a good option. Did you ever come up with some different solutions to the steps? I had an idea of putting 1 or 2 power steps like the large class A's have. 1 that would make a lower first step and then an additional 1 between the 2 so the gap isn't as big. You had pointed out that the exhaust emission cat is also behind those steps but it looked like you still had some room to make something happen.
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 7 лет назад
Hey 767, great question about the steps. This is certainly an issue that folks with ailing hips or knees think about. Yes, we can fabricate and add an additional two steps to the factory step system. Using some identical tread plates, we can add a step between the two existing ones, and one lower (below) the existing step. That way it isn't as much of a jump between the two. I have carefully looked at the space that the store-bought retractable step systems use, and we need quite a large void behind the steps, and we don't have enough space to mount and store it. Darn. Someone out there will come up with a solution!

Hi Greg, GREAT looking truck .... I notice there is no pull down strap for the upper bed or a ladder?
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 7 лет назад
Hi Mick. Good eye for detail sir! Yes, in the Volvo model 670s, they don't have a ladder. Instead, they have you step on the bench, then on the leading edge of the fridge (there is a grippy step material on it), and then up on the bed. There are some other hand-holds on the upper edges of the cabinetry to help get you work your way to the upper bunk.

Hi Greg. What is the length from the moose bumper to the 5th wheel pin? The reason I ask is to see max trailer size allowed if I was concerned with the 65' rule.
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 7 лет назад
I have a video that helps show those lengths. Different models are different lengths. In this particular instance, it is approximately 27 feet. Here is a link to the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sgyKYhSNFuA.html. Also, I have a video that speaks to the 65 foot objective - here it is : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a0Nu4ts7zZk.html

Hello AF Vet. You can get into a very well equipped model that just went out of warranty for approximately $85,000. That is likely one about 6 years old. Depending on miles, age, and how many fancy features you add, the price can go up. You are always welcome to call us and narrow down the pricing with further discussing. Thanks for watching!

Hi Greg, Can this type of truck carry a mini cooper instead of a smart car?
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 5 лет назад
Hello Emilia. Yes, we can carry other vehicles (motorcycles, atvs, golf carts) - as long as they don't exceed the "width" measurements. The mini cooper is actually quite a long car - about 12+feet depending on the model. To carry a vehicle width-wise, we want it to be around 8.5 feet (which is about the length of the smartie). If it is too long, they extended too far out the sides of the RVHauler. The mini can be carried length-wise, and loaded with ramps from the rear.

Gregg, Another good video and great information. Have a few quick questions. You said, that that was the 670 (shorter bunk). With the Phoenix bed what wheel base did you have to set it at? New changes on the Phoenix loader bed seems to have helped a lot. I think I asked you this before, but I may have worded it wrong. Is the Phoenix loader going to be available on the Gen 2 beds? How is Jack's truck doing? Have a safe tip to PA and keep the dirty side down and the shiny side up. Rich Merrick
