Puking Rainbows I was thinking this bro. But at the same time I feel like if Steez was still alive Joey would've went in a different direction. Idk Steez state of mind and thinking was on a cosmic level, he saw shit universally and not centralized societally persay, if you get what I'm saying. Joey is very focused on the problems here in the US and the larger issues that represent them, but I feel like Steez would push towards looking bigger scale
@@bdpchamp Steez saw PE more as a movement and a unit, revolutionaries on the music front as well as opening peoples perception on reality. I feel like in his final days, maybe some thoughts were directed to the fact that maybe he couldn't achieve this, or felt that maybe the Pros didnt feel as strongly as he did on it.
bigjayking24 1999 is a better overall project. That has to go down as one of the best mixtapes of all time. Summer Knights just has a better vibe to it. cant really explain. With Unorthodox , My Yout , Amethyst Rockstar its all different.
thats a really good questions. yo i think 1999 has plenty of completely classic, full, amazing songs like waves, hard knock, righteous minds, fromdatombs. But summer knights has some songs with really cool feels like hilary swank and my yout and unorthodox. Overall i think 1999 is better but its really fun to listen to summer knights and get that different perspective on joey. real shit tho, most of joey's songs from hits roots are great.
When 2Pac first came out he was trying all that lyrical shit & playing with flows, then he woke up. Pac dumbed down his lyrics so they could have more of an impact and reach more people. The thing that made Pac the greatest was giving you a message and telling you what's real so you can feel it. Imagine if he gave people hella triple entendres and everything like these over "lyrical" rappers do. He would just be another backpack rapper that wouldn't be as big as he was. Not taking anything away from the lyrically skilled rappers, but there's a reason why the most skilled rappers don't get the most shine. As Jay Z said "If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be lyrically Talib Kweli Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense But I did 5 mill' - I ain't been rhyming like Common since"
To all the ppl that are butt hurt because of what he said about Pac go cry in a corner..he's an artist he's supposed to feel like he's the best. Period.
@younggun2314 I hate when Joey gets bashed just because people like yourself don't know the meaning of the term 'lyrical' in hiphop. It's a common misconception to think that it means the overall meaning and the message of the lyrics, but it doesn't. When someone is lyrical, it means that they're advanced in the technical aspects of rapping, such as using multis and double entendres etc. In that way Joey is quite far ahead of Pac (also mine and Joey's favorite rapper of all time), who never really was into that kind of lyricism, and instead relied on his message and delivery. Stay educated, bless!
t weird how an artist changed my whole perspective of life and turned me into a better person. Thank you Joey badmon. like you said you are here for a higher purpose.
I find it funny how some people act like Pac was NEVER lyrical. He could give you that if he wanted to but Pac was straight forward with his message. He's not the most lyrical bar for bar but he could do all of that and more. He was a complete artist. Joey saying he could flame Pac bar for bar I don't have any problem with, I understand being someone who loves hip-hop and knowing the competition so anybody mad at him for that is a dick head. AABA about to be dope, can't wait to hear it.
Zuri Frazier Exactly. It always trips me out.. when I read their comments I think to myself they definitely don't listen to Pac's entire catalog or only forming opinions based off what others are saying.
I like this interview. Reminds me of reading a good book and taking notes cause the shit you reading speaks to your soul and you gotta keep it for future reference. Joey inspires me. Much love Much respect
Ness you either bugging, don't really study hip hop, or don't really listen to Joey music if you can't admit Joey got better Bars than Pac. This interview kind of blew me being the fact if Joey your homie then headlines shouldn't be able to dictate how you feel about him. I only met Joey once so I don't know him on a personal level but listen to his interviews and music I know he's not a person to just be talking out his ass so when headlines came out I did my research before jumping to a conclusion and I 100% agreed and understood where he was coming from.
Cameron Ahmad bro if that's the case she shouldn't comment on what she don't know. She can't agree or disagree with his statement if she doesn't do her homework.
Joey aint ever made a song as importent as any of pac's songs. Changes or Smile w/ Scarface for example would wreck anything Joey has ever done. 2pac means so much for so many people and cocky joe blow here hasnt lived up to that at all. Let him write another oddball MFDOOM rhyme that doesnt mean anything. I think Im cool with Joey but he doesnt know what he's on when says he's better then pac. #FACTS
Joey is great and I'm glad he said the thing about balance in Hip Hop with sometimes listening to Lil Uzi and still having lyrical stuff like Joey. That's how I am in my musical choice is.
Everything Joey been saying bout it being bigger than me or anybody is so true I been on that and it's cool to see him speaking up about it. When you know you know
Ok soooo when Kodak Black said he was better than Pac & Bigg... everybody was silent. But when Joey said he's lyrical than Pac everybody wanna be butt hurt 😒 stfu
What he said at 13:48 is so true! When I was on an airplane & we were close to landing I thought "wow everything seems so small from up here, but it's big when I'm on the ground." & then it made me realize we really are a small part of the universe, but even so each of us collectively play a big part. You really have to step outside yourself & realize this shit is bigger than you!
All you niggas Sayin Joey changed, Have not spiritually ascended obviously....YOUR NOT READY FOR THEEEE FUTURE!.....ANNDDDDDD` YALL WILL NEVER RAP GOOD AS HIM....THINK ABOUT RAP IS ASCENDING INTO THE AGE OF AQUARIUS. Report spam or abuse weswagginoutYOU UNDERSTAND NOW, YOU NEED MORE EXPERIENCE....STILL!
great interview joey verbalized the way artists should of themselves very well. if you don't even scratch the bar the greats set yet, work harder. the bar was set high, so the future has to and will aim higher.
Yo nessa Pro Era is where its at, do your research, these are the most motivated and progressive artists out here. 47 shit Synchronized till we reach the skies
On another note, he right bro everybody get pressed when someone says they are better than the greatest. We need to have that mindset to better ourselves as a race. The human race is supposed to advance. But if you say that you must give everyone a reason to believe you. I can say I can do anything but if i don't put the work in then you can criticize me and argue my point
Joey is droppin dimes 24/7 whether its in the studio or in interviews this man deserves more respect. he's an inspiration to me and he should be to a lot of others.
thank you joey for being so conscious of the world today and it's issues! we all have elevate for our cultures to be better and bring better things to social equality!
crazybaby Thats funny cuz he definitely sampled "Juicy" by Biggie on Land Of The Free. Lets not be surprised if he samples "Hypnotize" in a near future hahaha
I met Joey in Jersey and we kicked it and he was saying his biggest influence in hiphop is Big L, Guru, Nas and Smiff n Wessun. It was really dope of him to say that. That's why he keeps it real with the music plus to Joey only 20 or 21 yrs old. how many 20yr olds today listen to real rappers like this today?
