Had a old horse that rarely ever spooked at anything basically was bombproof ,but one of his the worst spooks involved a large yard concrete life-size ornament donkey. How I managed to stay seated i during that I still don't know, but I did.
@@piewhackit2me I've been spooked with on a 15.2 hand horse bareback when I was like 8-9 ish and she galloped to the other side of the arena but I stayed on and I didn't ride much either
As someone who’s been riding and owned horses for over 25 years, when this came to broadway here in LA I saw it six times and it was even more beautiful each time I watched it, so much thought and practice went into getting Joeys (and the other horses) movements down perfectly and as a horse woman I appreciated that. I do wish this show would come back because it truly was something absolutely amazing.
I was just coming down to say this. Those puppeteers were outstanding, there was small little movements you would see in a real horse that most wouldn't even think about.
It's definitely awesome, but I can only imagine how the real horses felt/thought about this not-horse. We've seen how different animals (Cats, dogs, birds) react to mirrors, or sculptures... so it's interesting.
As soon as it is the right shape, it doesnt matter if its natural or synthetic. People would embrace androids too, even knowing that they hug a machine. Humans are so weird.
littleblackwolf3 I saw the play a few years back. Not sure if it’s still on, but it was great! Very impressive puppeteering, especially on stage where it’s harder to see the puppeteers, you almost think it’s a real horse 😂
This is such a beautiful puppet! The fact they took into consideration the anatomy and how it would run and such, while taking into count things like brathing and the ears is AMAZING.
Omg!! You just blew my mind!! That's the best idea!! My god!! The possibilities are endless!! I mean puppet construction, materials. The size, the quality of the materials used, being in sync, it would be so creative and so interesting to watch!!! I would love to see a circus of puppets!!!!
There is a circus in germany that uses holographic animals for their shows. Ive never been there, but its pretty amazing! Just as the ones with only human acts, like Cirque de Soleil (hope I spelled that right)
This is amazing! You actually forget it's not a real horse, even though you know he's not. The puppeteers do an awesome job of capturing a horse's natural movements so well, the puppet comes a live. What a treat it has been to be able to see this "horse."
When they walked the pony around to the back of Joey I thought, "Watch out!. He's gonna kick...no he's not you idiot." I got lost in the magic and really believed Joey was a real horse. Simply fantastic work/artistry.
This is the first time I've seen this. I cried all the way through. The work, no, craft of these puppeteers is stunning and remarkable! It reminds me of the Yaqui deer dance from Baile Folklorico. My soul is touched and moved.
The puppet artists make the character emote, seemingly effortlessly. Sometimes artistry is doing something difficult and making it look easy. These artists get it done - thank y'all!
Joey is the coolest! The puppeteers really have the moves, gaits and the nuances of horse behavior down. The impression of the weight of his footsteps, and weight shifting, how his ears convey emotion and intent truly give him personality. Just wow! Fantastically natural movement.
buffy reisinger It's a best selling horse story by Micheal Morphurgo and the horse is a model which recreates the main character (a horse named Joey) Trust me it is a really good book!
Calix Yeah, I know. xD when I saw it in the recommended section it looked very strange on the small photo, and when I read the title I also thought it was a horse that survived the war because of how scraggy it looked. xD
Oh my goodness how alive he seems! They are so talented and empathic! I've been around horses, ridden and owned them most of my life. This is a grand prix show!😃🐴
THAT IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA!! SHOW IT IN HISTORY CLASS!! I'M WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW 12/31/21! LOVE THIS MOVIE THEN TO STUMBLE UPON THIS!!! AMAZING!! PUPPET MY FOOT! WE NEED A BETTER NAME!
This is just amazing. I saw Warhorse in London with my husband a few years ago. I was just so overwhelmed with emotion. It's such a beautiful play. And Joey, is just amazing.
Joey is a fabulous work of living art! I loved watching how the living horses reacted to him! The puppeteers did a very realistic and believable job! ❤️🐴❤️
Absolutely incredible!! Every single intricate little part from the puppet's overall design right down to the puppeteers' execution is mindblowingly stunning! Some serious awards need to be given to the team that created this amazing and beautiful character!
Can we just appreciate how beautiful that piece of art work is and I would treat it like a real horse lol 😂 but seriously they should be so happy to have all that and creating war horse and war horse Joey himself!! He is so beautiful and I love the background of Joey :D and I love learning about war horse joey
So unbelievably realistic I've had horses for 30 years and it's amazing how these people got everything down right to the air movement the tail flicking awesome
Saw the play at the Peabody Opera House in STL, a few years ago, as an extra adult along with my son's class trip. This show is absolutely stunning. You completely forget that you're looking at puppets!
The play was beautiful and the actors could actually ride these magnificent puppets. The puppeteers were such masters , they almost disappeared. The entire production was amazing. Seeing this live in DC was definitely very special
I fell in love with him and I haven't even seen the show. I have however read the book. Knowing the story, and seeing this beautiful puppet so masterfully brought to life, I'm about ready to cry.
I went to a The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe play 2 years ago. They had a puppet just like this for Aslan, and It was amazing! He was made out of pages, and quotes from the books.
War horse is an amazing show I saw it in London I could see the show more times.I am blind now but just to list and it's alive in my head, I could touch the horse to remind me
