Video taken at the Jubilee Family Festival in Hyde Park, London, on Saturday 2nd June 2012. The horses you see in this video are the puppets used in the War Horse show in the West End. Despite obviously not being real horses, I was amazed at how lifelike they made them behave, just like real horses.

Yes but if you whatch alot of other vids on this stuff/Joey the war horse... then you will see that its actually alot of weight on the heart and hind people. This is amazing on how it was created and it all came from a hyena puppet. Its alsome, and just how real the horses seem.

holy crap , the head actor is also doing the voice work ? that's incredible , i thought it was soundboarded !

All three of the actors actually do the voice work since the noises a horse makes are much louder and require much more breath. The three puppeteers work together to make it sounds as similar to a real horse as possible

There is a max in weight they can handle. I heard the suit is about 45 kg and the head 7 kg. The person who rides the horse can be a max weight of 75 kg. All that weight is divided between the two puppeteers that are inside the suit

As amazing as these are I believe the ears are just a tad to big, not by much but enough to make you think there is some mule in there.. just my point of view.

Their ears are that big so that people in the back can still see them, since they're one of the main ways the horses show emotion. It's the same reason why actors on stage use huge motions.
