JoGLE ep.39: South West Coast Path - Hartland Point to Bude| challenging climbs and incredible views

Come along for Days 100 and 101 of our End-to-End hike across the UK where we tackled a very hard (if not the hardest!) section of the South West Coast Path and walked from Hartland Point to Bude.
This stretch is rated as "severe" in the guidebooks and rightfully so....
We climbed numerous very steep cliffs which made for a very challenging day, probably the hardest one so far for us. But we also hit another milestone and crossed into Cornwall, the last county of our hike!
This remote stretch of the coastline is also one of the most beautiful in my opinion and we were rewarded by lots of stunning views making this section very special!

Hartland Point-Morwenstow (12.9mi/20,8km)
Morwenstow-Bude (9.6mi/15,5km)

When I consider what you have achieved on this hike ; the minutiae of the planning required ; being alone most of the time, but not forgetting Otto, ( he is adorable) ; and dealing with all of the frustrations and difficulties which have arrisen, without complaining or giving up ; quite the opposite in fact you have maintained a cheerful countenance to the very end - I think that you deserve a medal, (which you won't get), and should be extremely proud of yourself. Sheffield South Yorkshire. A very impressed 80 year old pensioner.

Loved watching this, my son and I have walked that section and it's a killer! Those steps are huge and so steep, but you've reminded me just how beautiful it is.

Great video and well done on your achievement. Watching on my phone, when you’re speaking to camera, the rucksack sometimes has the appearance of a giant bird with a yellow beak peering over your shoulder.

Great shots of the hilly paths Elli (Diese steilen Bergauffahrten bereiteten mir Knieschmerzen) 😮 You’ve a good eye for showing the best of the English coast and you had some decent weather for a change. Don’t envy your hike in the sun, better in the breeze. Impressed at the patience of Otto when you’re doing a piece to camera 🎥 👍🏻

This is one of your best videos Elli and Otto, what such a beautiful area , love all the colours. You can really see how difficult this day was , your legs must all muscle ? Can understand how tired you were too. Loved the way Otto sits down and looks at you while you are talking to the camera so funny . Nice one toppers 👍 take care up and onwards 🌷

Amazing video. Beautifully put together, bringing back great memories of that stretch when I walked the Path in April 2022! I met you on the Tarka Trail. Since then you have just carried on walking with Otto. What a hero! 😊

I went from Heartland Quay to Bude in a day... When I got there I had two pasties n 2 two lots of chips! Its a wonderful stretch. I know your obviously filming alot and they probably get in the way - but I found using poles made it so much easier

It's really stunning, one of my favorite parts :) you're totally right about the poles. I really like hiking with them and always have them but sometimes when I'm filming and having Otto on the lead, it's just too much of a hassle, gets tangled up and I end up carrying them in one hand or putting them away... not ideal, would love to use them always.... 🙈

Hi Elli & Otto, Wow Elli those were some bloody steep hills. But OMG some amazing views from the top, by any chance were you a bit tired-Shit shit shit lol... I think Otto had the right idea (I will just lay here and let Mum tickle my belly) So cute. Sad to say but it looks like we're almost coming to the end of this amazing expedition.🥲 Take care 😜✌

Hahaha, yes! The cliffs in Cornwall are no joke 😅 But also very beautiful :) No worries, Otto and I already went on another adventure. We only lasted about 10days without hiking and we were back out again :)
