About John Adams
Aberdare born, he started life as a Math’s Teacher but took a leap of faith in 2016 to pursue music full time. Story Behind ‘Amen'
I was in a writing session with two friends Jon and Zak, acting like it was an ordinary day but I had a spring in my step because I was keeping a secret…
My wife and I had just found out we were pregnant…WITH TWINS and I couldn’t help but sing about it. I was feeling extremely thankful on the day and the proclamation of ‘Amen’ felt like the perfect expression. I couldn’t expose the secret so I tried to keep the lyrics ambiguous and I think this approach really benefitted the song. The result is a song about finally finding the one person that you’ve been waiting for, or two in my case.
My favourite lyric in this song is “I’ll be there when you need me and all of the moments you don’t”. It felt like I made a promise that day and the song will forever act as a reminder.
