Thanks for another interesting video. I've been a Beatles fan since the late 70s and never been able to get into these albums. This is the first time I've heard them described as a trilogy though, I believe it's just the first two are linked as Unfinished Music, although they do seem to stand out as alike in type. I do recall reading that John Lennon once said Avant Garde is French for bullshit; I believe that somes it up. Thanks again for the videos!
@@OldMod67 Thank you!!! Yeah, they are a trilogy, but the last one was more like a Epilogue according to Yoko. I think i heard George say that Avant-Garde stands for Avant-Garde a clue😂
I used to enjoy Life With the Lions (unlike the other three) since I like feedback which is all over Cambridge 1969. No Bed For Beatle John may be the closest thing to a Lennon original on all three albums. Baby's heartbeat kind of keeps the baby's spirit alive as an artist (perhaps the only track with a rhythm). Lastly, I used to listen closely to Radio Play as it reminds me of the Lennon's at home. Thanks for the insights on these albums though-- I finally get the "unfinished" idea lol
@@namesameasu Yeah! That album creeps the fuck out of me and I don’t mean that in a negative way. Its interesting and disturbing and for that reason is worth a listen, but apart form that… gee
I loved Two Virgins, it has a lot of great comical bits in it, but I never liked The Wedding Album and could not stand Life With the Lions. However., I do love the Flaming Lips' remix of Cambridge 1969. I'd say they ... finished it.....
@@farrellmcnulty909 Yeah, i was honestly surprised to see that collab. The narrative of Yoko being a “witch” was so engraved in my brain that i thought the whole industry felt the same but it seems like thats far from the truth. It also helps that their version is much shorter😂
seems like a waste of time to make a video about this as if it matters - what if Lennon did it as joke - so people would talk about it - 'the kings new clothes' ? or is the king simply naked !?
your boxing something as if it should run in an order and should sound a certain way, i bought this when it first came out and it was interesting...its NOT Let It Be, but a painting in an art gallery isnt the same as the next painting....i dont think John & Yoko had an idea of bringing out a "greatest hits" package.....to please everyones ears
Yoko is not one of THE artists .... she'd like to be - but without jumping into bed with John Lennon she would be almost a nobody ... I visited the exhibition in Bilbao (80th birthday) ... and it was "boring", white ladder, a fly on a female body etc. and when she "sings" it's simply an annoyance ... she simply chose John for her career
I disagree with you. Maybe she did hook up with John as a career move, but if she did it was a huge error in judgement. If she hadn't been with John, I think we might know her as a conceptual artist rather than his wife.
@@Mandrake591 Well, no. Conceptual art rarely has that popular impact. But she might have been thought of more favorably as an artist, rather than John's wife. What do you think of other artists? Andy Warhol, for instance.
I had downloaded these albums years ago and was never able to get through them. However I do think Yoko often gets too harsh criticism because her work on Some Time in New York City and Double Fantasy was great.
