Sometimes live. Not all through the album recording though. The studio version is more focused on the bass drum.

Charles Connor was the drummer on Little Richard’s “Keep ‘A Knockin’” which Gregg not so subtly referred to in this video!

Bonham was clearly inspired by Little Richard - Keep a Knockin'.

And who told Stanton Moore who then told you (Greg)? Or did Stanton figure this out on his own? There's others that claim it comes in on the & of 1 mimicking a Chuck Berry guitar intro. Keep a' knocking drum intro is super similar though so seems like a more direct influence.

Bonham is doing a shuffle with snare hand the whole way. Just watch Knebworth 1979. Also, his foot is leading the charge. So many guys can’t get the foot right cause it’s so damn hard to be that consistent with it. He’s much more busier than you. You are awesome however and a great drummer.
@mattmarkus4868
@mattmarkus4868 Год назад
a 26" wide open bass drum helps with that. Also, Bissonette is playing both hands in unison with the more or less correct dynamics. So no, not much busier.

It’s not a shuffle though it’s straight 4
@mattmarkus4868

@@steech193 it's never really straight with bonham, actually. always slightly swung.
@DC-ih8bv

@@steech193 it’s a shuffle as per Knebworth footage and Jason Bonham comments about those ghost notes.

I heard it was "Johnny be Good" that John was playing. Good to know the true source.
