Dick Johnson said the worse corner at Mt Panorarma for the Sierra was exiting the Cutting. He said you had to go against all instincts and floor it before you came around the corner just as you downshifted into second, if you didnt the Sierra would bog down with lag. Had to have balls the size of the rock that destroyed his XD because its a blind corner
@@davidewhite69 Thanks for the info mate , stuff like that makes you appreciate how good these cars / drivers were when racing against the mighty R32's Which were like a bullet out of that corner ( well all corners )
The big mistake Ford made with the Sierra was the Garrett T4 - Cosworth wanted a Holset turbo which were far superior with more power and less lag. The same Holset Turbo Cosworth were running in Indy car.
Back in these days you were able to cross-enter in different cars, as long as they were in the same team. It's how Peter Brock got more than 1 of his Bathurst wins
