This is John Brown's Dream, one of my favorite tunes from North Carolina fiddler and banjoist, Tommy Jarrell. I'm playing it here with 4 parts. I love this tune because it's fun to play, it makes me feel good, and it gets a group of people dancing pretty quickly. (Imagining outdoor jams once again!) And there's just one chord, maybe two if you want it! :) In the second half of this vid I'm talking through each part a little bit. I hope this helps and that you enjoy!
Standard tuning
gDGBD
One thing you can do to make this sound even cooler is tune your 4th string down to low G and you get an amazing low G drone. I didn't do that here, because it makes this banjo really hard to wrangle when it gets out of tune, but give it a try!
Up to speed: 0:19
Breaking down each part: 2:13
Slow play through: 7:28
