at this point it’s clear one of the main factors holding back john is his age. less endurance, speed, reaction time etc. but still pulling at an elite level, amazing.
Yep, goes to show you can't defy age that's hit his central nervous system, his reflexes/reaction time, and with the long covid issues his endurance has taken a beating, despite that he's showing everyone why he's the goat
Well he was better than Irakli in every area bar endurance and speed. Unfortunately this game requires everything and endurance is a huge part of it. I'm of the opinion that John doesn't tain anywhere near as much as these elite armwrestlers do. He's just simply so good at armwrestling he's usually good enough. Also he trains mostly with guys who are levels below him and only once a week. If I was him I'd go spend 1 month down with MMT and train with him, his cardio would go through the roof and I think he'd easily be the number 1 in the 105kg if he trained a lot more.
John should have beat him 3-0. The first round they both lifted their elbow for a split second, that went uncalled. But Irakli then threw his arm off the pad when in a losing position against John. Round should have went to John, but it got restarted instead.
I feel like twice John maybe jumped on it just a little to soon. If he had it in him to hold out a few more seconds and let Irakli use up precious energy he would have had less in the tank to stop John's last push. Nevertheless you can't take anything from Irakli being able to do that to the end to the powerhouse John. Amazing to watch.
yess my friends John is 58 ys old, tired old lion. With his ages , he is lucky to be alive, he is 50% weaker, his endurace is lost, he is not young anymore, but look how he deal with young peolpe, he can wrestle with them and bring them a big trouble. Bring back young John and he would be a champion
John is the GOAT....he dominated for decades and beat champs above his class Denis, Travis, Lupkes, Dean, Chaffee, Pushkar etc. Devon never did that. He is also what top 20 at 58.
The best part was that John looked so happy when he saw Irakli's total elation at his victory over the mighty Brzenk. That it still means so much to these young guys to beat him, even at 58. Class act, both of them.❤
One of the best matches I have had the pleasure to ever witness. Irakli and Onga's match are supremely up there in terms of Table IQ IMO. Would you say the flop press is the new Stephen Curry 3 pointer?
@@TuvaluIslander Haha. If you told me 5 months ago that Ermes and Irakli will use a deadwrist press successfully in their upcoming matches I would have probably laughed at you xD
this is what young champ does against the gentleman 🐐 when losing does two intentional fouls to make the old man out of breath. cmon be a man young champ you are fighting against an old man fight like a man don't play these tricks
The fact John is STILL at an elite level and able to abuse a champ like Irakli and make him grind his fuckin ass for the win is just more proof he's the goat. Between being as old as he is, multiple surgeries and injuries over the years, and multiple times covid, you can tell his endurance is going. But fuck me did he make Irakli work lol
Why does it seem like John let him win? I felt like he was messing around. This isn’t the first match I could say this either. Is it just me with this point of view?
When you have accomplished basically everything there is in the sport, you get to be more carefree and experimental like John. But I believe he will be more focused and serious next weekend :)
Maybe he shouldnt stop and play as he did in round 4 ;) But hey, John often tests his opponents when he thinks he has the win. So nothing new in my op. And doing so it does not look like a devastating defeat for the opponent.
Arm wrestling is wwf. Just enjoy what your watching and realize outcomes are determined by where the public places there bets. At this level it’s not a sport. It’s a small money maker
John cannot push it too far when he pulls these younger guys anymore, every time he gets deep into a match he has to consider whether or not it's worth going all the way, he probably could have toughed it out in that last pull but it may have meant getting an injury in the process and at this point in his career he has probably concluded it isn't worth the pain.
My guess is that john could have beaten him, i mean he was close to the pad but gave up, maybe because he wants the younger ones to get the fame, as he already got his.
@@Aex89 John has been smashed dozens and dozens of Times. The sport was completely different during johns time. It’s not even comparable. It would be like saying Naismith is the greatest basketball player ever as he was good on a peach basket for a hoop. John is a a great. But there are many who would beat John on their best day. And did back then. I’m a much bigger fan than John than irakli but I’m not deluded. You probably think Rocky Marciano is the greatest hw boxer as he was 49-0. And you can’t see how drastically the sport changed. Or you would put Jack Johnson in the greatest fighter you’ve ever seen.
@@oldironsides4107i Don't know about others but prime john beat prime lupkes, who was 150 kg while being 95 kg. The same lupkes who gave prime cyplenkov hell.
Irakli is a force to be recognised but John is pure class, his technique is insane, its clear he wasn't as strong as Irakli who is a beast not far from Levan himself. But John had the superior positioning and will always be the 🐐.
@@chrisvee5583 and he got foul for that. its not like he fouled and referee did not give him. You are not obligated to NOT FOUL but you need to be cautious because if you foul out too much you will LOSE. He did nothing disgusting in my eyes. He was going agianst stronger opponent with less endurance so he used his strategy.
Irakli was lifting his elbow, watch his elbow he lifts it slightly multiple times.. Isn't your elbow supposed to stay in contact with the pad the whole time ????
@@stargazer7015 I think they should call all fouls tbh even if they are microfouls, your elbow should be on the pad at all times if it lifts up slightly that should be a foul. Just being 100 percent fair. It'll make arm wrestlers have to keep their elbows on the pad and make the fights more fair.
@@khaydzhillman1392 yes but it is a pain in the ass for viewers go see matches get bored because they stop the match for every micro foul. I think its good the way it is. Maybe adding runnung fouls would make it even better
Irakli has so much bicep strength, but he is still not using it to his full extent. I think he needs to take his wrist and pronation training seriously. His biceps are nearly as strong as Levan, but his wrist cracks on the second round with John. He could do great as a pronation back pressure athlete, but his wrist is too buttery for his back pressure.
So Jerry is terrible because all he does is flop weist yet when some other puller like this or Vitali or Dave do it itsamazing and impressive. Hmmmmmm so lets see whos correct. No need for answer its obvious
Easy win for John if not for the intentional elbow fouls. Its insane that east vs west uses rules that reward intentional fouls for free restarts, its cheating.
