John's Beautiful transition from taking the hand to a press, as expected. Very patient in his transitions and counters before going for the pin. Pavlo is obviously very strong to make John work, but John is a true master to negate his power. It's crazy even in this day, you don't see anyone armwrestle like him.
@Lagia Prudnik is just a freaky talent... can dance, world class opera singer... you name it. I suspect he could really shake things up in AW if he took some Georgian juice and let himself get to 320lb like Ermes. At the very least it would thicken his hands quite a bit. I suspect the biggest thing holding him back is that he has an ego similar to Brzenk where he thinks he doesn't need to go heavy on juice or where he simply won't risk it for fans. His choice I guess.
No one arm wrestle as beautiful as John does. Calm, observing, exploring, experiencing, transitioning, exploding, and respectful. Everything putting together so perfectly and that’s why you never get tired of watching him pulling.

I saw a comment quite a while ago about how John rarely ever fouls (even under strict PAL rules), and it's so true. Not sure what ruleset this event was using, but we can still see his super clean form in action. (No elbow fouls, no false starts etc.) Definitely an underrated aspect of John's pulling style!
Totally agree. There's so much gamesmanship in armwrestling, with each competitor trying to gain even the slightest advantage in the setup, and sometimes it's just TOO much and makes the sport tough to watch (See: Larratt vs. Chafee @ WAL 504). But John doesn't need to resort to cheesy tactics, and beats everyone with his technique, savvy, and power.
Since John came out of retirement he faced Chance Shaw, Dmitry Kachan, Paul Linn, Devon Larratt, Khadzimurat Zoloev, Engin Terzi, Pavlo Derbedyenyev and is already scheduled to pull Zurab Tavberidze, Corey West and Irakli Zirakashvili.. incredible
It's crazy how before John came out of retirement arm wrestlers were just doing a super match between 2 to 4 times a year. John comes back and boom now there are super matches all the Time John didn't need arm wrestling but arm wrestling needed John Brzenk!
I feel like after the first go John could immediately feel that he had this match under control. Then he just proceeded to use the entire match as a small workout session. If this is the old worn out John I can't imagine the power he had 20 years ago.
Yes. Pavlo has a strong arm but his hands and wrist are not there. John saw that as Pavlo surged, he cracked his hand open. Pavlo kept going outside and seperating/losing his wrist.
@@damiensmith9240 John suggested they start in a hook in the last round. You can see it in the unedited version. That is where Pavlo's strength is, and John being John wanted to test himself against it.

John is the man still from this day. Been watching him going on 25 years now. He's a true goat of the sport. He's the Michael Jordan. Love watching him. Never gets old.
What a time to be a fan of armwrestling!! I hope people realize how rare it is to get to see a legend retire in any sport and then come back and start kickin butt like he never even left. It just doesnt happen

That was impressive. Pavlo did many different things, strategic and very STRONG. The people John has pulled this last year has been insane. How he's able to contain everything the way he does is just incomprehensible. Containing and opening up Pavlo like that is nuts. Pavlo is a damn juggernaut. The GOAT goes on!
@@drilldrulus1235 that's not the reason for his hands, that's all genetics. Many people have different attributes. Some can jump high, some can run fast (quick twitch fibers/high metabolism ) while others are strong in controlled lifts. Of course some are just smart or have other talents. Point being john hands are not trained that's predisposed genetics for best attributes when it comes to this sport. Johnson thumb is literally insane.
Back before the North American pullers went berserk on the juice yes he looked normal. Now he looks all puffy and bloated and putting on massive size quickly like a 100 dudes I’ve seen or know. who all roid 🤷♂️ Not an average dad.
What an absolute legend! Doesn’t matter the sport - Gretzky, Jordan, Ali, McGuire... not a damn one was on top for TWO decades and STILL relevant after that. John is from another Planet. Somebody call Brittanica and tell them to put his picture under the word “Hero”.
And once again John wins this incredible competition, it's not the first time he surprises me. John Brzenk in fact knows 100% of the arm wrestling techniques and he should be an example to be followed! Keep it up John you still go far!!!
