That inker mentioned - Beorn whatever-it-was - was actually John Byrne himself. It was just some weird alias he used this time (and I think it's actually an anagram of "John Byrne", if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks, Michael!! This is where I came onboard. I still have most of his full run on FF.

No more Comic Code Authority, "no more censorship", and yet the modern comic books don't hold a candle to the old comics that were produced when the CCA was around.

22:14 I'm not sure that's right. It's been a while since I've read "Phoenix the Untold Story", but in the conversation between Byrne, Claremont, Jim Shooter and Weezi, I think it was Byrne who first brings up the idea of resurrecting Jean. I don't have my copy at hand but my memory of the conversation is the four of them discussing Claremont's original idea of Jean getting a lobotomy vs the decision to kill her. Either Shooter or Weezi says, "What Chris wanted was to separate the Phoenix from Jean. Byrne: Yeah, I have an idea for that. Claremont: A little too late now. Byrne: Not really....... And then the conversation goes off in a different direction. But I'm pretty sure it was Byrne's idea to bring Jean back....because he wanted to, not because he prefered to take on the task himself if it had to be done. At the time, it didn't have to be done.

I must have remembered it wrong. Byrne does love Jean so that makes sense he’d want her back.

I own a really nice Byrne FF cover - that is not included in this book!! I'm friends with most of the folks who contributed to this book - and even the editor! Stings whenever I see it....
