Great story. I've been to many U2 concerts and it's always awesome. But to watch it with Jack Nicholson in the sound booth must have been surreal.

I met Jack Nicholson at a tennis match in 1984 when I was in high school. My friend and I sat down next to him for about 5 minutes and talked to him. He was a really cool guy. We were expected to get booted.

Talking to some Friends at a Bar in San Diego and earlier in the day they were up at Torrey Pines Golfing ⛳️ and they said Jack Nicholson asked them if he could join them. They said sure and he played a Round with them. Said he was the Nicest Guy and Thanked them for letting him Join Them. Who Knew!

Thank you for the tip. I've seen Al Pacino as Hoffa in The Irishman, terrific performance, simply outstanding. I bet Jack Nicholson is great as Jimmy Hoffa, too. I believe I should give Hoffa a try now you have mentioned it. As for John C. Rielly, what a nice man and brilliant actor he is.

Nicholson was the son of a single mom, a showgirl from New Jersey. He toiled in LA for years before getting roles and being a star. I don't think the "regular guy" ever left him like it left his contemporaries.

I agree that JCReilly has Gene Hackman characteristics when he plays a serious role. An excellent actor. Gene is hands down on my favorite actor list of all time.

John C has a little Hackman in him. both he and Hackman can play drama or comedy. John C is a better comedy actor though, and Hackman is a better dramatic actor

In case anybody else gets the "shy bladder" like JCR, here's a tip that helps some men: think of multiplication tables. I count by threes or by fives, basically. Getting into the "math" part of your brain helps take off the pressure.

I keep listening to this interview like Dale Doback is giving his responses about meeting Jack Nicholson, straight off the Boats And Hoes tour lol. He clearly put a lot of his child-like self into his role as Dale, and I love it! His enthusiasm and explanations certainly prove him to be an everyman, which is why he's so well liked.

LOL!! I was at that show at the Palace of Auburn Hills I remember Bono ordered something like a 100 pizzas from this mom and pop pizza place near my parents' house for the crowd. I remember seeing Nicholson being ushered to the main floor.

The history nerd in me is like... "MacArthur on the beach in the Philippines?" and I know Conan caught that too but it doesn't take away from the story or allegory.
