Kentucky Is just a shadow of what it used to be. Kentucky isn't the 1 school for recruits anymore. It's not even close. Will Arkansas be better vs Kentucky the next 5 yrs? Probably. Arkansas will recruit better.
@Truestar4 Arkansas will have great regular season records, then underachieve in the tournament. Cal is an amazing recruiter, but only a halfway decent coach. Give his recruits to half of the coaches in the country and they will be cutting nets every other year
The standard is 4 titles since 1958 and Calipari has 1 of those titles. Imagine winning most of your titles over 60+ years ago and calling yourself a blue blood.
@@Bob-te3leAs a Tennessee Vols Fan born and raised in Tennessee I hate Kentucky, But You tripping Bro. They are a College Basketball powerhouse and a Mount Rushmore Basketball Program.
The mercenary "One and Done" model does not translate to consistent championship contention. It works for Cal and it works for the players who eventually go pro, but fans of UK Basketball weren't getting enough from this deal. 1 Title in 15 is nothing special by their standards
Not even the championship draught as much as getting flat out out-coached in games and being embarrassed by teams with community college level athletes because of said coaching. All year Ive been saying UK can beat any team in the top 20 by 20+ points but also lose to any community college in the nation the very next day.
As a Kentucky fan I’m not disappointed. Not that I hate Cal, it’s just from a fan perspective I’m sick of having to relearn a new team every year. Looking forward to having some players you can route for for 3 years in a row….
Kentucky fans should thank him for leaving the way he did. Could have stayed until they had to buy him out. Plus now he's allowing the program to move on. I never really liked Calipari. But I do respect what he just did.
@@cartwillcartwill6609 I kind of am low key, kinda like hanging on to a girl you’ve been w for 15 years but quit loving her 5 years ago, but still hold on bc you feel like you won’t get anyone better lol
If Calipari can transform Arkansas into a place students are willing to stay and develop I'm sure he will do great things. But, wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a program of one and dones
As an Arkansas fan, I love this signing. Musselman didn’t want to be here anymore, so keeping him wasn’t really an option. So losing a coach that made us a tournament team (excluding this year) to now pivoting to a coach that will keep us that way is all I could really ask for. And if it attract more high level recruits that’s a bonus imo
Gotta be Chris Beard for Kentucky. In 3 SHORT YEARS Beard turned Texas Tech around - won the Big12 regular season, Beard won Big12 coach of the year AND took Texas Tech to their first national championship game ever. Beard then went on to Texas to fix Shaka Smart's failing mess. In 2 SHORT YEARS Beard built a team that made it to the elite 8. While Shaka at Texas before that missed March Madness 3 times and lost in the round-of-64 three times.
Watching fans reaction in the last tournament game told the tale. Down 1 bucket with 4 minutes left our fan base knew it was over for us. Cal demoralized our fan base.
I was eating Tyson chicken by chance when it happened. Good riddance to a five year overstay. Tyson chicken will be very popular here in Lexington and across Kentucky now. May even beat the out KFC😂🥃🥃🥃🥃
He’ll probably do better at Arkansas since he’ll be getting more 4 yr players early on. I hate these 1 and done players. You can’t win championships unless you have a balance between good older players and great freshmen and Kentucky could never get that balance. Only had it a couple of times and almost won it 3 times but was only able to get one
If Coach Hurley can win tonight then it's Kensucky(8) and UCONN(6).😉 You don't think he can win 3 more Championships🏆 in the next 20 years.🤔 Why would he leave UCONN???😂 Kensucky has become irrelevant over the last 10 years and UCONN is about to step on them as they climb the ladder of Basketball🏀Supremacy!!!💯👌🏽😊🤘🏽💙♑
@@JunkYardCardGuy lmao you must not be and must be hard of hearing if you believe otherwise. Could go on for days on how overrated this guy has been the last 15 yrs
Upgrade the program for Kentucky 😂. Kentucky fans are crazy for expecting so much in the days of NIL. Kentucky will never be the same as they once were.
as a life long razorback fan i am not happy, id rather have kept Eric Musselman, yeah we had an off year compared to the past few but he accomplished more than any other coach at UA since Nolan Richadson, Personally im going to miss Musselman, USC got a steal getting him
I'd crack up if Kentucky spent all that money to hire Nate Oates. Yes, it was Alabama's first time to be in a Final Four but it was also Nate Oates first time to be in a Final Four or even an Elite Eight. Calipari went to three straight Elite Eight's at Memphis before Kentucky grabbed him up. There has to be other candidates that have done more with less than Nate.
Thank You Kentucky!!!! 77% win percentage since 2009 51 draft picks, natty championship 7 sec titles Now 6 Million NIL while Kentucky has 4 Million Kentucky better be watching those 4 incoming McDonald’s All Americans current status
Both sides are happy in this one. Imagine getting your best assembled top team in 12 years with unlimited ceiling and hype, beating great top teams throughout the year only to have the super power of being able to lose to any local community college because that CC coach can outcoach cal in game.
John just made it IMPOSSIBLE for the rest of the coaches to WHINE/complain/cry about players entering the "transfer portal" now, since coaches do the exact same things to their schools/recruits
The recruits and some of the current players will go with him. There are essentially no big high-school recruits left, and depending on how long it takes to hire a coach, there may be few good transfers left.
It’s a great move. It’s nothing else he can do there. Even if he were to guide a team to the final four, it wouldn’t be enough. UK is like a chick you can never satisfy. You move on to a new chick.
@@sturock2000Nate Oats just signed a massive long term contract, we r in the process of building a new arena for him, and he’s talked over and over again about how much he loves Nick Saban and how much he has guided him
Kentucky, go call Nate Oats right now. His coaching scheme is solid, he just lost multiple players to the NBA and took this squad to the final four. Alabama Aas a nobody in basketball before he took over. It’s a no-brainer
Is Rick going to bring the strippers and hookers with him on the plane? Sickening to believe that UK fans would want him after all the crap we gave Louisville because of him.
Nat Oats is terrible now at $20 million! Too expensive! He ain't worth it! Bring back Pitino for a few years let him retire. Then hopefully the market will be better.
So what do you think he will do there that he couldn’t do at Kentucky with all its resources? Just more recruitment for one and done NBA players. Sorry, that’s not worth 8 million a year.
Speak for yourself but I can assure not all kentucky fans are happy it's a shame the crybabies are heard louder than those who still support him now if we had a great replacement it would be easier to handle but most of the names I've heard 🤣🤣🤣 NO their not replacements they are we have to have a coach please come here to fill a position it's possible they'll land a big fish but I seriously doubt it probably be another Gillispie type guy where we have losing seasons recruiting sucks and the NIT is the new tournament we reach if we're lucky watch and see
