Carpenter is the man. One of the greatest in my opinion. He NEVER got the recognition he deserved. I mean come on. They live. The fog. Christine. Big trouble in little China. THE TGING for Pete’s sake. These are classic movies.
John Carpenter is definitely one of my top 10 favorite directors of all times. I can honestly say top 5! The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China, and They Live!!
Halloween. Prince of Darkness. The Fog! Who's better than John Carpenter? Sure Ridley Scott is amazing and Speilberg is incredible, but Carpenter is more unique, more multi talented...and damn ever movie he makes is exactly what I wanted but never knew it. Love the man.
I will always, ALWAYS, love John Carpenter. Thank you for influencing me from such a young age (thanks to Halloween, The Fog, Escape, The Thing, Christine, Big Trouble)
I saw it in the theater opening weekend. I loved it then. That fight scene got as much the night I saw it as it does now. It was just so crazy you couldn't believe what you were seeing.
@@Apothekari Oh wow, very cool. That would have been something I alas was to young to see most of Carpenter's films when they initially came out. I had to find them on TV and VHS.
John is a living legend but there is one film from his resume that I would like him to revisit and that is The Fog. The original has its moments but the script is not one of his best and some of the scenes don't work particularly the ghost/settlers attack in Father Malone's study.
Yes there is a couple of movies that I feel like were a bit meh and aren’t really on par with the highlight career of his career. I still find it impressive how even the more lackluster pictures have that signature Carpenter aura to them
No he was shining light on republicans, because most if not all are possessed by alien forces, their reptilian brain and archonic forces using them for control and subjugation of this planet. Some people are not as asleep as the conspiiracy theorists who have been manipulated and distracted from what is in plain sight, people are waking up to the evil of capitalism used as a tool of enslavement and exploitation.
November 2020: Jesus wasn't the only prophetic Carpenter. In 2013 he foresaw another economic collapse coming. Gotta love John, the man, the legend 🤘😎🤘
The man's talent and influence as a film maker are obvious. But his social motives and agendas are rarely discussed. The hidden hand of multiple government agencies have been at work in concert with Hollywood since the medium's inception. The infamous "they" in this movie were really the film makers themselves. Every major movie studio has been directly linked to the CIA or it's subsidiaries. And directors such as Carpenter were hand picked from obscurity from various film schools around the country not only for their talent but their more-then-willingness to "play ball" in order to launch their collective careers.😮
They in They Live are capitalists who uphold the system of capitalism instead of communism, it is that simple, its not about CIA or anything else. They Live film was not even produced by a major studio, it was an independent production, which is ironic. Carpenter has been a leftie and largely anarchist, so obviously he was awakened for a long time, he played the ball like most of us who are against capitalism, because the only way to bring about change is THROUGH the system, but clearly Carpenter still did not lose humanity to criticize the anti-divine inhumane system of capitalism that has been enforced against our nature in order to keep us in the most predatory frequency of consciousness. Nazis were trying to defend capitalism just as much by fighting agaisnt communists and Jews who wanted communist system. This is how it is inter0connected. It is interesting how capitalists are usually blind to that message in this film where they show homeless people and the poor conditions of those people in there. Dont look for some other agencies who had the same motive, to uphold capitalism as much as possible, it's not more compliicated than that. Most probably it is people like you that are the problem without realizing it, that is just a reflection of the deep UNconsciousness within the capitalists who dont see the problem within the gap between rich and poor, or invalidation and unacceptance of difference in other humans, which capitalism demands as it feed on the inhumane hierarchy of strong and weak and survival of the fittest, the same like Hitler during those times. People like you have been distracted by conspiracy theories to see what is right in plain sight, because it reveals the uncomfortable truth about them being the main problem, not Carpenter, this is why they dont like it when Carpenter himself needs to point out this main message. They is those who dont like that message so they instead try to imagine enemies that are different from them.
What is genious about this film is how cleverly it showed that republicans ARE actually globalists, because they are upholding capitalism which is feeding globalism, funny that people have not figured it out, Carpenter already did, just like most leftists and anarchists, we're been telling this to people like you for years. The anti-globalists are ushering in the world government consciously or unconsciously. Thing is if you believe in the greater global governance, the negation of the state is exactly what the alleged globalists will be looking to promote. And Capitalism eventually leads to dismantling of state education, its welfare programs, and its healthcare system just like in Argentina - who's gonna pick up the slack exactly? Yes, the World Food Program, the WHO, UNICEF etc etc. It takes two to tango, both anti-globalists and globalists, but capitaism is the engine that can accomplish it, why because globalism can only benefit the ultimate capitalists at the top. Global communism that is run by its people would prevent that from EVER happening, but this is what capitalists dont want, they fearmonger you with propaganda about communism and socialism through the CIA programs, which has been documented already, so that people would defend capitalism without their knowledge of actually paving the way to world governance rooted in exploitation. That's how fooled people have been all along.
"They live" is not a political movie, I think. His idea might start from political issues, but it ended up to a movie about human desire, domination and media control. That's why people still love to see "they live"...it's still relevant today.
I don’t agree with the political message, but John Carpenter is still one of my favorite directors and I love this movie. Don’t let political differences change your opinion on anything. “I may not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it”
Lmao he thinks Republicans are the bad guys lol he obviously doesn't believe in capitalism that he gets to enjoy. This was posted 4 years ago but i wonder who was president when he thought we were coming out of a recession..he probably thought Obama fixed it😅😂
it's not necessary a political message, but a critique to the bad consequences of politics by the Regan administration. Do you like concentration of power and wealth in a Elite? Putting the rest of population with poor access in health and education?
