What always bugged me about that match was Cena actually had one is his best in ring performances just to spite the fans, but for some reason never did that again

This was a true ECW crowd, giving Cena heat bc the face of that match is RVD. He's the face of ECW (aside from Tommy Dreamer or Tazz). In this situation John Cena got his only real dose of heat until the mid 2010s when we all got tired of seeing him fight Randy Orton 3 times a month.

I was there for many shows in the late 90s. One night stand 2005 was definitely the greatest night in ecw history. 2006 was the moment where RVD finally got the world title. Unfortunately he followed up with some bad decisions

I'm curious about that because ECW crowds have always been notorious for their reactions. I would figure out if anyone knew what they were in for he would have had an idea.

It’s that he entered ‘overpushed’ territory with Super Cena and never losing, and didn’t have enough 2nd or 3rd guys He even basically buried Angle, Hbk, Batista, Orton, Big Show, Edge, etc and they never really were able to be the 2nd top guy, Cena kept the top spot for himself, and he stopped any sort of momentum or build of younger guys like Wade, Alex, Ryback, etc
