Ironic if you think Taylor Swift doesn't get Cleese because of his dry sense of humor. She got it and played right back perfectly. He knew it, and if you watched the show, they even commented to each other about it at the end.

Insult??? It was tease. The man is a comedy genius and loves to create a bit of mischief on these type of TV shows. He did what he normally does.... made a statement which he is well aware will not be appreciated by the intended target, to see what sort of response he will get. i.e. will she take the bait? He turned and looked her straight in the eye, with a twinkle in his, letting her know for sure that she was being teased and was expected to respond. To her eternal credit, she looked him straight back in the eye, with the hint of a smile and a twinkle in hers, that said "I know what you're doing", and then delivered her well chosen response, with perfect poise, grace, comedic effect and timing.... much to the delight, amusement and admiration of Mr Cleese. ( He can clearly be heard to compliment her afterwards.)

This is one of the best episode of the show. Humours flying around.

It's so funny seeing the difference in the comments on this channel and those on the exact same clip on the BBC America version of this channel. Over there all the comments are about Cleese's "sexist comments" and here it's all about Swift's "dumbness". I don't really have a position on this. Having now seen then show in its entirety I thought it was one of the best Norton shows in recent times. It all seemed to mesh. I just find the difference in reactions to this clip very interesting.
