Thanks. Didn’t know there was a short end and couldn’t figure why my box blade kept tiltIng. Dealer had short end toward tractor on one side and long end on the other.
I know that you did this video several years ago, but I just got a 1025R and I found your presentation to be exactly what I was looking for. I think that I can now install my 3pt hitch correctly. Thank you very much Sir
I've had my 1025R for over a year and usually kept my backhoe on. Finally broke out the 3pt had no idea how to assemble it. Thank you for this video. You made it very easy. Excellent job!!
This video helped me understand what was going on with my arms. The lazy dealership had all my 3 point hitch parts not put together because I had got a backhoe and no other attachments. So when I got a bush hog I had to put them together and like you look to see how they go together but I found a rudimentary guide. But nothing about the holes in the middle and I had a stroke some years back and now sometimes I don’t notice things. But since I now see the holes make a difference I now know how to fix my problem.
Thanks JL - Nice demonstration of installing the 3 point on the 1025R - I haven't installed mine in the year I have had my tractor because I have the 260B backhoe on it and use it all the time. Going to install my post hole digger soon and now I can use your video as a guide... Thanks for posting this.
Installed mine last night. The short side of the lower arms go toward the tractor. Otherwise, the drag links are maxed out. Put the short side toward the tractor and the drag links work like they should.
Thank you so much. My 1025R came with a backhoe, and did not come with any of the parts for the 3-point hitch... now I not only know what to look for , but how to put it on when i get it.
I just got mine with the backhoe, the dealer needs to give you the 3 point hitch as it’s included with all the John Deere 1025r tractors. He forgot mine and dropped it off the next day
@@orderstudios4088 I'm sure it came with one new, but I bought mine used, ... a 2017 with only 202 hours, not a bad deal, even if I have to pony up for the hitch parts later.
Thanks for this! I'm in the same boat you were. I just bought my first 1025R. I've only had it a few days and I'm making my first attempt to attach my RC1048 brush hog mower to it. Your video was very helpful. Long, but worth it. I would have run into some of the same problems you did in figuring out how some parts fit together, so this saved me a lot of time, frustration and a call to the dealer/salesman!
Thank you! I've had my 1025R for a year and today decided to install the 3 point hitch. The backhoe has been on the entire time I've had it. I tried to wing it, but got stuck on the turn buckle connections. :)
You are THE MAN! The manual is a joke and there are a million videos on the loader and drive-on mower, but nothing on this subject. You had me up to speed in 9 minutes! THANK YOU!
Yes, the right side should be set to match the length of the left one. You can then use that adjustment to get your implement perfectly level if needed. I didn't figure that out until after I did the video. Thanks!
Our 1025R was delivered last weekend and we haven’t been able to figure out the 3 point directions. This video was extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing.
At the end of the video when your showing the adjustment arm, the bottom angle is still wrong. Mine was hooked up like that and a John Deere Mechanic changed it because the lift arm where it attaches to the tractor didn’t go up and down evenly. It looked like it was twisted.
I understand now. You can see my reply on one of your other comments. It seemed to work ok both ways, but I agree they both should be symmetrical like you are saying. That does make sense. Thanks and thanks for watching too.
Super job as always! When I mounted mine I called the dealer and he said that the eyelets on the arms are only welded on one side. Those welds go to the inside. Just another way to remember is all. Thanks again for the demo.!!
Yes, you can't have the 3pt and the backhoe installed at the same time. When you buy the tractor with a backhoe, the 3pt pieces will come in a separate box.
Sir this video helped little old me SO MUCH!! Thank you for making it! I couldn't find any other videos that could help answer my questions; VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOU!! I've got a brand new 2025r and have never put together one of these hitches. I'm sure I would have been fine just figuring it out; but I would have wasted a lot of time that I don't have.
Thanks for doing this video. You saved me a BUNCH of time figuring out how to mount the arms and what the resulting receiver height would be. I am about to buy a new 3-point hitch and this video really helped me make a decision.
Very informative. I'm looking for some blue tape right now! My only suggestion would be to have an assistant do some of the camera work. Thanks for posting!
I have owned my 1025R for 8 months. Never felt satisfied with the 3 point hitch as it always appeared wonky to me. Your video highlighted that that the arm on the left non adjustable side was the wrong way round, with the long section on the inside not the outside. THANK YOU!! Saved my sanity a little.
I’m talking about where the turnbuckle bolt goes through the adjustment arm. That part of the adjustment arm doesn’t match the left side. The point where it bends is toward the inside on the right adjustment arm and it’s going towards the outside on the stationary arm on the left.
Ok, I think I know what you are referring to now. At 24:33 in the video I'm guessing. I went out and turned the bend 180 and reconnected. Everything seemed to operate the same with no binding. What small difference there is in the angle, I think is compensated for by the balls at both ends of the main arms. The only difference I could tell was a very slight re-adjusting of the arm for level.
Thanks for this video. My next thing is my tractor has a backhoe and I never got the 3 point hitch. Every thing I have read says it comes with the tractor. I will be calling the dealer in the morning
Looks to be the same as on my JD2025r.....so I’m gonna go ahead and install the three-point hitch on my tractor. (Then I’ll mount the middle-plow and get that set up to plow my garden.) This will be my first time, ever, with this type hitch so I appreciate your video. It was helpful to just get the basics of this. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. It was a life saver. I just bought as JD 2025R and mine also came with no instructions on how to assemble. I got most of it figured out, but could figure out why the turn buckle was hitting the tire on one side. Watch your video and you pointed out the the hole is the draft arm were different and bingo. That was it. Flipped the arm end for end and it that was the ticket. Thanks again!!!!
Thank you so much , for the video. I bought a used JD 1025R, and the previous owner had the arms backwards. After multiple attempts at leveling the arms when lowered, then in the fully raised positions; I couldn't figure it out, so I turned to RU-vid and found your video. Big help regarding the hole placement in the arms resulting in a short/long side. Thanks once again...
Thanks for a clear presentation of installation information JD fails to supply in its literature. When I install mine, I'm going to put a little paint on the right side arm. Blue tape is not likely to last for me.
It seems odd they don't give any instructions. I guess they think everyone just knows or the dealer puts it on for you. I didn't know how and scratched my head until I got it right, so I figured I'd share this info to help those like me.
Thanks for the compliment and congrats! I haven't done any mods on mine yet. A lot of folks put hooks on their loader bucket. I didn't because my forks take care of any lifting needed. I will be putting turf tires on in a few weeks since I will be doing a lot of mowing with mine.
Hello JL and hello to you to Tractor Monkey. New subscriber here. I also have the 2018 John Deere 1025R TLB. I love all the improvements made to the 260B backhoe as you point out in your other video. I myself have not ever installed a 3 point hitch. I will be installing the one that came with my 1025R soon and this video will make it a breeze. I have a letter and number stamp set so I think I will stamp markings on the arms to indicate direction for future installs after use of the backhoe, etc. I will be welding up my own hitch receiver and was wondering if you can give me a couple measurements that I need. The width of the hitch itself (not including the lift arm pins) and the distance from the center of the lift arm pins to the center of the top pin. I have a new Miller Matic 215 welder that I bought last summer and this hitch will be a perfect project. Keep up the great videos !!
Good morning to you. Thanks for watching and subscribing! The hitch receiver frame I have is 26 inches wide measuring from the outside edges. 15 inches tall when measuring from the bottom pin center to the top pin center.
I may be way wrong but I think if you put the short end toward the tractor you will get more range of motion vs if you put the long end toward your tractor you will increase it’s lift capacity
Thank you so much for posting this. I just bought a 1025R a couple of months ago and am going to finally use my 3 point hitch next weekend (I've had the backhoe on the tractor). You are right regarding documentation as far as how to install everything. If you're ever down in Keystone Heights, Fl. give us a shout.
You're welcome. One item I forgot to mention is the bungee cord in the kit. It's supposed to be hooked between the arms so when no implement is attached, it keeps the linkage from flopping around side to side.
Or you can use the bungee cord to go from one turn buckle, over the top of the PTO guard to the other turn buckle to keep them from turning and achieve the same thing and get rid of the rings. I didn't like the rings so I got rid of them. Bungee cord is so much easier.
That's a good idea. I got rid of the rings and just bought a couple of jam nuts. They were a little hard to find since they are metric (either 12 or 14mm if I remember right).
No charge. It comes standard with the tractor. Sometimes it's already installed by the dealer, sometimes the dealer gives it to you in a box. Mine was in a box because the tractor came with the backhoe installed.
It's included with the tractor. If you bought the tractor new, the dealer should have given it to you. If you bought a used tractor and the previous owner did not include it, contact a John Deere dealer to buy the kit, or ask the previous owner what he did with it.
I know what you are talking about Joe and you are right. It does make a difference. The right side needs to be angled out…just like the fixed left side.
Hi there. Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I don't have the box it came in anymore. It comes standard with each new tractor unless the dealer forgets to give it to you, so I never paid any attention to the that. Even if you get the factory installed backhoe, the 3 point pieces are still provided.
