I never seem to load my tractor the same way twice. I guess on the tongue weight and scramble for proper tie down areas. With the help of Weigh Safe and Ken's Bolt On Hooks I share a few ideas for transporting trailer cargo.

Much needed video. I’ve made many multi day trips hauling “stuff” I have bought through Auction Time and or Market Place. I’m not a trucker, just an old retired Army guy. Know the laws of the states you travel through! No wimpy cheap chains/straps! Carry a mini of one trailer spare. Have orange cones, a hydraulic jack. If it can happen it will! I’ve seen guys show up at a plow day with loads that are not only dangerous, but totally illegal. You really don’t want an accident, or an over zealous DOT officer explaining what you are doing wrong = in writing. I attempt to buy out a “tractor package”, so carrying EVERYTHING safely and legally is important. My idea of fun. Did I mention I’m old!

Great video, thanks for the mention! I've been looking at the weight-safe hitches too, thanks for showing that as well.

Well at least I'm not the only one with the same issues. Every time I load my tractor it seems like its always a different setup, same trailer/tractor and implements, but nothing ever gets loaded in the same spot LOL. I got tie down hooks for my tractor as well, although a different brand than yours, I swear every tractor manufacturer I guess never thinks someone may need to haul that tractor at some point, they should all come from the factory with frame mounted anchor points. My trailer has the stake pockets on it, I got the tie down hook inserts for it to make securing the tractor to the trailer easier. I've been thinking of getting the ratcheting type binding inserts that the webbing simply just rolls up on the binders when not in use and just stays there, but the sun will quickly deteriorate the webbing from my understanding. I'm getting ready to put a tool box on the tongue of my trailer to store tie down straps, etc. So that'll take care of that issue at least. The other thing with my trailer, its technically a car trailer, it don't have a dovetailed end on it, and the rails where the ramps hook too don't come close enough together to really get the whole tires of the tractor onto the ramps, so I still need to figure out a work around for that, cut off the 2 rear stake pockets, and somehow weld on some sort of a bar or rod for the ramps to hook onto.

I am still liking the cab idea. Haven't have snow to play in where I live in Ohio but would still be nice on the cold and rainy days.

I've had the hitch for almost 3 years now. It's super light, been perfect so far. Also have the stake pocket D rings (eBay, excellent product). For tying the front of my 1025, I use an axle strap around the loader tower at the base and then a ratchet strap to the D ring. For the rear I just hook the strap over the frame near the PTO shaft.

I bought my first Weight Safe ball mount when I bought my 2016 Suburban. Because the receivers are unusually high I bought the 10 inch. The Suburban came with air shocks so it automatically levels. I really like this. Suburban is happy with 500 lb tongue weight but gets unhappy with 700 lbs. I have used it upside down on JD. I bought an 8 inch for the pickup. All my 2 inch straps have snap hook that will stay in place even if they loosen. I also frequenly use Mac's axle straps with protective wrap. I like your stake pocket D rings. Before I first saw those I was using a piece of chain with a hook and my straps. I case you cannot tell I get a little carried away with trailering details

I bought a weigh safe hitch a couple years ago. It worked great for about a year and a half. I now have water in the gauge after a rainstorm I was pulling the trailer in. The gauge no longer works. When it was working, it did a great job though. Hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine. I still use it, pretty much know the weight and where the tractor needs to be with different attachments after using it for a while. So really don't need the gauge now anyway.

I bought the front tie down but couldn’t seem to find a good way to use them without the chains rubbing on the underside of the loader arms. So I bought the Mudd’s Customs ones that bolt onto the loader mounts. I think these are much nicer to use if you have a loader (and who doesn’t??).

Also it is a good idea to have a strap for ALL implements even ones attached to the tractor. I believe that is required in most US States.

Great video. I will say, though, that I'm afraid you are underestimating the weight of your tractor at 2,000 lbs. Don't forget the weight of the cab, wheel spacers, backhoe subframe, etc. I bet that your tractor is north of 3,000 lbs without the backhoe. Maybe you could run over a local CAT scale to see for sure sometime. Happy tractoring!
@ataleofthreecabins1025
@ataleofthreecabins1025 Год назад
I used 2000 for an easy math example. Tractor alone is around 1600, with loader and BH around 2600. TLB cab is around 3000. Thanks, Tom

I would not recommend weight safe hitch at all. The scale broke 4 times in the first year and a half. They won’t warranty it out after the first time. So I’m stuck with a hitch I paid $400 for and the scale doesn’t work witch is the whole reason I got it. Just buy a B&W hitch much better
@Skynet-1

Same reasons I went with a B&W tow & stow tri-ball hitch.
