I use a twin leg mole drainer behind a JD 8300T, pulling 4" expanders at 20" deep. It has transformed the wet parts of the farm, but you still need drainage, otherwise you're just moving the water to another part of the field.

looks like you may want to try to mount a mold board plow Coulter to it to cut the ground a bit. should help with the bigger chunks of dirt that your getting up.

I made mole drains. We used a 2000mm by 300mm channel with waer mental on the bottom to keep a leave and tight mole also run a dicse 400mmm in front of the leg that go's in the ground 150mm. But the leg that you on there very different to the style we use in the uk more aggressive. What ever works for you and as you say better then doing nothing

That ripper is wicked. I hope this helps with drainage. I would be interested to see how the ground settles in the spring. Thanks for filming and showing this. I have been curious about this. Thanks for the update and video Travis!

Hello. If you want to make a tidier job fit a slitting disk in front of the leg . The the grass won't get ripped the same on the surface. Loads over this way like that and leaves a decent job especially on grass .Nice vid . Stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thanks for the video. It will be interesting to see how well that works for you. Defiantly a lot cheaper then tile and if does the same thing like it should worth the investment. Can’t wait to see how it does in spring

Seen a few of these from the 40's at auctions 20 + years ago, understood how they worked but this is the first to even know someone that has used it. Kind of like a poor man's tile plow with nature providing the "tile". Looking forward to Spring for results, thanks Travis for sharing.

Great video Travis. Good use of the drone to show us how this ripper works. Sort of a small sub-soiler. It seems to work great. Good luck for harvest to you and family from Catawba NC.

Mole plowing makes so much more sense than installing tile. Tiling creates several problems in both soil and water environments.

I've used one of those behind a 4010 diesel. We used to rip wet areas and headlands with it. Yes you could easily get the front end of the tractor off the ground.

Thanks for sharing your videos with the mole plow. Hopefully it works as well as it seems it should. From my totally novice perspective I was wondering if some sort of closing wheels could help with the lifted dirt. If you could compact after the ripper but just ahead of the mole. But I’m sure more experienced people would of added that feature if it was worth doing. Wishing you and your family the best.

Good evening. Could a rolling basket help with the heaving of the soil or a double or triple blade gang of discs? It'd be mounted via spring's or mechanical linkage or chain. Figure I'll get holocausted by more knowledge but it'd be one an done in my thought. But if available it'd be around, one could say. Good evening.

The older farmers in this area talked about using a ripper like that years ago to drain springs to the edges of fields. Not many of them in use today. I have an old pull type one with steel wheels but all the mechanicals are seized up. It's a lawn ornament now LOL

Short term fix yes. Doing it in the fall to help with spring drainage no.
