fd620d manual state 170 psi. either side. 230pis maybe has carbon buildup/lazy sticky valve. bent push rods worn cam lobes ect valve lash is set at .010in.120pis is really common with slightly worn rings. check serial # for possibility of having a plastic cam gear.
Nice videos. The amount of compression you have seemed insane to me so I checked my service manual and it calls for 170 psi, which bis 60 psi than what you were getting, They mentioned that excessive compression can be due to carbon build-up. Thoughts? To me that engine sounds really sweet and when you consider the junk you get nowadays for 3k, won't even come remotely close to a 4x5 tractor! She's a real beauty!!
I recently bought a 425 and my oil smells very full of gas. I’ve checked valves, the needle, spark plugs and I’ve changed the oil. Do you know what possibly is my problem? I have some other questions on it as well. Great video! Hope we can talk
I have a 445 with less than 800 hours on it. It doesn't smoke but seems to use oil. Could this be the valves needing adjusting or would that be a ring issue?
The valves are always an easy thing to check and adjust (with or without oil usage). Oil useage doesn't always mean rings. It could be the type of oil (multi-weights will "burn" faster than single or heavy weights. Engine use plays a part. Along with a lot of other factors. Somewhere floating online is an oil use chart showing what is acceptable for different engines. Most engines I have seen are in the X oz per 50 or 100 hrs.
