My guess is someone was pounding the axle / hub to get it loose and cracked the nut. Power is not transferred true the nut, only there to keep the proper pre-load on the axle bearings. Thanks for your interest.
@@santerresongarage7486 The "power" comment was my feeble attempt at sarcasm. I just completed a restoration on a 39 B with all new axle bearings. Going to run it some but need to go back and recheck the axle nuts bearing pre-load and some more stuff.
