**I GAVE SOME INCORRECT INFORMATION. THE TINE THICKNESS OF EACH VERSION ARE VIRTUALLY THE SAME. IF ANYTHING, THEY ARE ABOUT .005" OFF. HOWEVER; STAMPING ADDS STRENGTH, SO THE GALVANIZED VERSION WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE**
A look inside the "gearbox" on the Brinly made John Deere Aerator Spreader. Solid design in my opinion, keep in mind there are 2 versions! Unfortunately no good way to tell which one you would get if ordering and not buying in person.

Good info. I wish all the tines powered the auger. That would have been a better design

Yes, however; it is the same concept as a differential. the sides need to turn at different rates. If they all turned together, the tines would damage the yard a lot in turns.

Hello.. did you buy this at a dealership!? is it different one @ homedept!? ( smaller / weaker!) thank you big fan here 🙌

Thank you! I did get this at a dealership. There is no difference where you get the spreader, the only thing is depending on when it was made, there was a revision to the tines. Older ones are black painted steel (like mine), newer ones are stamped with a strengthening groove in them, and are galvanized steel. Unfortunately I don’t know where the revision was, so if it is in the box, I can’t tell you how to tell which is which.

Is this the same as the brinley?

It is very similar, it is made by Brinly. There is a difference in their frame/towbar I believe, and maybe some other small differences. I have heard this one is better though… Brinly makes it, but Deere I’m sure gives their expectations. Could be something like “we don’t want plastic bushings, our model will have bearings” kinda situation. Can’t say for certain, but some of the stuff appears that way.
