This was fantastic. Would not have known to step on the pulley wheel. The last tip on making sure the belt is on the blade shaft the right way was spot on since it happened to us. You saved us from spending money on the installation.

Hey Scott I have a JS63 and just curious what needs to be done to get the self propell option running. I'm pretty good with auto stuff but never worked on a lawnmower. Would it be the rear gear or cable or both? It might be the same system as yours. Thanks

Good question. I would first check the cable to make sure it is adjusted prperly to actually engage the self propel gearbox. Cables have a tenancy to stretch over time. A simple adjustment is what I would try first. Dont make it too tight though. You have to adjust it so you can fully engage it with a comfortable grip while mowing. Hope this helps.

However if you find the cable is frayed you most likely need a new cable. I would also run the lawnmower without the belt cover and see if the transmission is fully engaging or not. If its fully engaging and not moving, then it's most likely you need a new gear box.
