I recall this from all the summers I spent visiting my hometown of the South Bronx New York. Many afternoons with movies like Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, The Guns Of Navarone, Soylent Green, and The Seven Ups. Great times and memories.
Thanks, John. I appreciate that. It was a big decision to go or not with the "limbo shot". The sensors on the remote were showing faintly red on top, left, and right sides. Good visual line of sight while flying slow and steady helped though. Safety first.
Hi guys, just sharing the latest drone update for September 2024. Mostly the West side with a focus on the Duck Under Structure being built to accommodate an alignment for the future "Portal South Bridge" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eoS3x97aGgA.htmlsi=XmQ_R6jq9Jdi0pWr
If anyone is interested to see what exactly the "Duck Under Structure" looks like? A completed rendering is shown in the following video link from a "NOV 2023" update. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YXbpBRA7_iE.html
Really good views of that, thanks for the footage, it's hard to see from the video people take from passing commuter trains, and this really highlighted it well.
Thank you for your comment Jack. Much appreciated! It's been really exciting to see this progress from the ground breaking, drawings, and finally, to the actual structures being built. This is a true historical moment in the Northeast infrastructure renewal for our Rail customers. (NJT-Amtrak) The Hudson Tunnels is another amazing project that's underway.
Thank you for your question Nolan. You can check out this video link to see a picture of it. It was created to accommodate a future Portal South Bridge allignment for trains coming out of NY to bring them over to the Morris and Essex (M&E) line through the new alignment. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YXbpBRA7_iE.htmlsi=OViJScGg9RSr2cjO
@@scottmaasmedia - thanks for explaining what the duck under structure was for. I had been wondering about that as well. Also thanks for an excellent video. I am looking forward to seeing the bridge arches being assembled. Since the bridge is over 50% complete, a lot will happen in the next year or so.
@@MichaelOReilly-oc5pb No problem Michael, and "Thank you" for your positive comment. Much appreciated! This channel was created to always pay knowledge forward and educate those that are interested in learning more about several topics. Glad you enjoy it.
@@MichaelOReilly-oc5pb The arches are being fabricated off site, on the Hudson up near Albany, if I recall. Like one and a half are done now, and I think the plan is to barge them all down later this year or in the spring to install them, I think they're basically just waiting for that last pier to be completed in the river.
@@rwdavidoff Hi Rob, just some Fun Facts for you. The Arches are being assembled 10 miles south of Albany and barged down the Hudson. (It's the same shipyard that assembled the Tappan Zee (Cuomo) bridge). All four PNB super piers and fender systems have been completed on site. Currently as of the writing of this, we are now installing the rail systems in the water on both sides (Kearny and Secaucus) of the Hackensack, to help slide the two, 5 million pound arches into place on each side. (Center span will be the last to be installed).
Thank you. Ive been looking all over the net to remove this device which was left by the previous owner. How do I safely just disconnected the power to the main control unit, as I want to keep the unit on the wall for asthetics? Thanks again.
Hi digitizer. If you watch the beginning of the video (00:57). you will see the "power" was supplied by the plug that was connected to the outlet in the garage utility room. Once you disconnect that, no power is going into the system. Unplug, pull out as much as you can from the wall and cut. Hope this helps.
Oh feel free to take them out. You just have to fill the hole, spackle, sand and paint it. It's a personal preference either way. Thanks for your question Chef.
Very nice video. I may have missed it, but I saw a lot of wires being cut, but don't recall the wires carrying the AC power to the system. Were they shown?

@@scottmaasmedia Scott. thanks. Turns out I removed that power supply several years ago. However, I never removed the batteries so periodically we would get alarm sounds and finally low battery alarms. Using your video, I removed the entire system from the home, a big thank you! Got my walls all patched up too.
Someone told me years ago to dump bleach - of course was about 19 at the time and had no idea what an HVAC was so that advice went unheeded but since then I’ve had every HVAC person I’ve talked to tell me never to use bleach always use cleansing vinegar.
I’ve watched a bunch of videos on cleaning this line. It’s amazing to me how in almost every video there’s no way to easily access and clean the line. It’s almost as if the AC guys leave this out on purpose for service calls. Lol
Is 12:23 am and my ac unit was acting up in a very hot North East summer night and I learned a lot in this video and tomorrow is going to be over 100 degrees and I need to get that unit cleaned up!!! We are sleeping in the 1st floor tonight because the clogged unit (allegedly) is not functioning properly and my friend the HVAC guy is on vacation!!!!! But he said: if is clogged clean it and should work fine if not is something else and he will send a replacement service guy!!! Hopefully 🙏🏻 is just that!!! 👍🏻 Love the video and deserve my subscription!

Why would you remove and destroy a wired system? For a more "modern", wireless system? 😂 Wired will always be more secure and more reliable. Wireless is a lazier way of doing things thats why installers will push that on you
It's actually a personal preference. For me it was the age of the existing system and specific issues I had with it. I never said wired systems are bad. Everyone who reads this knows they have a choice in their decision. This video was only made to assist people who are removing an old system.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I am trying to peel this stuff out and your video helped me immensely with the wall pad that I couldn't figure out how to get off the wall!
I have two questions, is it true that the new structure is being settled? On the other hand, when will a new updated video upload the progress of the work?
Hi Oscar. Thank you so much for your question. Good question. Every structure including your house settles when it is first built, or even after a super storm natural event. Although the range of settlement for your house is not monitored during the build, the settlement for all newer commercial construction (especially embankments) are continuously being monitored by strategically placed prism sensors. If an anomaly occurs outside of the allowable range, it is immediately addressed with the Engineering teams, mitigated, recorded and corrected. I hope that helps answer your question. Working on the next video soon. Stay safe!
Wow, I'm suddenly a little kid again sitting on the floor in front of the TV with my brother and sister with our plates of food, we sat on the floor to get closer to the TV. Thanks for posting this.
That's a great question! The particular Duck under structure for the Portal North Bridge is a track being built to go under the new NEC alignment with the future Portal South Bridge in mind. This will allow trains out of New York to have accessibility to the existing Morris and Essex (M&E) Line. Time 1:54 at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tifnDhyzpfw.html Hope this helps.
@@scottmaasmedia Thanks for the explanation. How cool is that? Love the forward-thinking approach to this bridge. Can't wait to see the finished product. Also, would you mind explaining what that structure is at 4:17?
@@TheRailwayDrone That would be Wall C (1 of 4 walls being constructed on the Portal North Bridge project) It's located on the west side of the project in Kearny, N.J. adjacent to National Water Main. It consists of pre fabricated wall panels along with a low density cellular concrete as a backfill to provide a sturdy foundation for the cut in from the old track to the new alignment. #civilengineering #onlocation #scottmaasmedia
Good video, Scott. If my condensate line had that much exposed drain line, I would have installed a pvc ball valve before the tee fitting and then put a garden hose connector and a cap for that in the other port of the tee. This would allow you to connect a garden hose to pressure flush the line. Just remember to close the ball valve before flushing and open it when you are done.
This video is so helpful! Thank you. I just had one questions about the alarm box removal when you add the electrical tape to the cut wires in the wall. How do you know there is no power running through those wires? Is it because you disconnected the power supply at the beginning? I’m just wondering if there is by chance any other electricity running to those wires 😂
HI Vanessa, thank you for your question and I'm glad the video was helpful to you. The disconnect of the power supply was the power source to the wires in the wall so you are correct. No other electricity running through the wires. Safety first!
No guts no glory, that's how perseverance works. However, labelling those lines is redundant to me; I will screw the new circuit board to the base first (to hold it up), then transfer those lines from the old one to the new one.
Hey that works too. Ultimately, it's what one is comfortable with or the training methodology they were taught. I have to thank Verizon for that one. I was an Outdoor Field Technician for them quite a while ago. That was an awesome experience and I'm so grateful for that opportunity. Stay safe sir!
Great question Ken. I found this via Wiki. Walter Raim The original instrumental used as the theme music to The 4:30 Movie was an original composition, "Big Show Theme," composed by Walter Raim, written and originally recorded in the waning months of WABC's using The Big Show title. Hope this helps.
I am in the UK about to move into a home from the 1970s, I just wanted to ask, A does every alarm come with an alarm box, and B do you have a bell box outside your house?
I did not have a bell box outside the house. The system shown in the video was from the early 2000's. The older alarms had a similar alarm box. Outside alarm boxes were mostly on commercial accounts back in the day. But I do remember seeing some outside alarm boxes on residential homes built back in the 70's. Today, there are more sensor silent alarms that automatically get sent to the Police Department or Alarm call center. Best of luck with the move!
These are great videos. Please do them more often. I am far away from the northeast, but realize that the Gateway Program is probably the most important infrastructure project since the Interstate highway system, or the the East Side Access project. This should have been done years ago, but thank goodness they have finally gotten started. Please post videos frequently.
Thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it. Just the progress in one year has been incredible to see. We also have a website to watch the progress with a daily Earthcam panoramic shot of both ends in the comments. Stay safe! 👍
This video was great Scott. Thank you. I have a power sonic battery (PS 1250 F1) that I have to disconnect. Do I do that by unscrewing the wires attached to the large power box or do I use the quick disconnect tabs? It seems like I should use the tabs but do I just pull the connections off or is there a trick?
