John Deere AN and R plowing. The A is pulling a 16" 2 bottom John Deere 202 Plow and the R is pulling a 4 bottom John Deere plow. CVAMA Spring Plow Day April 2018
First tractor we had was a jd 60. Love that sound, spent many hours listening to it. Used to get home from work and get on the tractor till about 1am to get done plowing.
Couldn't agree with you more MrEcm51 and thank you whoever took the video for not having music to overshadow the Great Sound of the two-cylinder John Deere's.
In the 1950s my dad and his brother drove two Rs together pulling two bottom trailing plows in the Greeley, Colorado area. Heavy soil there. They replaced both of them around 1961 with one 4010 with a 3 point 3 bottom plow. Wow! What a change!
“ John Deere Green “ Spent many a day in my youth plowing with an gas “ A “ also a gas / distillate “ D “ also Model 70 diesel with gas pony motor start. Also an Oliver Cletrac Perkins diesel four. Those sounds, sights, smells and memories be with me as long as I live. In those times 300 acres took a bit of time to cover. See the sun come up and set from a tractor seat on some days. The old girls ran best in the cool of the evening How those sounds melt the years away. Dear old friends long gone. Why I can see them like it was yesterday.
Is the "R" pulling a 4-14 or 4-16? I have heard they can pull 4 to 5 bottom but not sure if that means a 14 if you go to a 5 bottom plow. Our dirt here in central Illinois can be sandy, clay or nice rich black soil so I know I must make considerations for each.
