Third part of my home maintenance kit video (but not really) for the X75X series tractors, this video will go over the grease points.

Good job! I did miss the front grease fitting thank you! Also I have two fittings on drive shaft at the Transaxle,180 apart. I need to rotate drive shaft to grease them. See if yours is the same, my x758 is 2016 I purchased 2 years ago!

Yes mine is the same. You only really need to grease one side, it is stright through. I started getting some grease out of the other one when filling one side, and the same going the other way as I had to test it.

Which oil would be used in the front axle of a 748 4wd?

Hydraulic or mechanical 4x4? If hydro, then low visc hygard, if mechanical I’d imagine the same, but I’d have to look it up.

I believe you missed for sure 1 but maybe 2. The mid pto shaft for sure has one to hit and i thought the other side of the main shaft had one but could be wrong there. Check the pto shaft though

Yes there are 2 on the driveshaft U joint, but the both feed the same area. I have greased both and gotten a little to come out of each opposite side. I think they put 2 to give you a better shot at accessing it because it is tough to rotate that shaft. So as long as you can get to 1 you are good. Yes there is 1 on the mid PTO shaft, actually 3, but I think I covered that in the mower deck video. I wanted this to be just machine only.

How do you rotate the u-joint to get access to the grease fitting? Thought it like my old truck and tried rolling mower some but that didn't do it.

I had to just turn the tractor on and off a few times until it was showing haha. It’s kinda a pain. I’m sure there is an easier way though.

I wasn't sure when the drive shaft moves. Thought it was when mower moved. Tried a few times starting mower and engaging blades but no luck on getting access to grease fitting. Definitely a hit or miss thing.

Picked up a new 739 with only 1 hour on the meter. Cut for an hour and parked in the garage overnight. The next morning found a small spot on the floor underneath the center blade spindle that looked like brown oil. Noticed on the underside of deck around that spindle what looked like brown grease. Did see pink colored grease on all the zerks. Thinking maybe they over filled this spindle and factory grease was forced out?

Potentially yes, if they are over filled it can push out the bottom, and then when it gets warm and can become more liquid… but that seems odd for new… not sure what to tell you. How brown? Because the grease it came with should have been more of a light tan color.

The puddle on the floor was pretty dark brown. The grease around the spindle was a medium color.

Awesome video, suggestion, buy yourself a dewalt 20v grease gun. Makes life easier when performing maintenance on equipment.

I bought some Greene grease synthetic Is this good for these? I bought a new x738

Color of grease is like color of coolant. They mean nothing. You need to go by the makeup of the chemical. Per the 700 series shop manual, other than Deere greases should meet: -NLGI Classification GC-LB -ISO-L-X-BDHB 2 or DIN KP 2 N-10 Lithium complex, non-synthetic base oil (100 to 220 mm2/s @ 40*C Just read the label, I think the main thing to look for is the NLGI rating.

Yeah sorry for the late reply. Honestly on a new or even relatively knew machine, it’s best to just use the manufacture stuff. Even on my 1980 210, I use Deere grease and parts as much as possible.
