I didn't mention it in the video but they do have available drive over decks in 54 and 60 inches. The green decks are commercial and have been discontinued and you can only get the standard yellow deck.
@@paulmosley6157 Ummm 🤔 here ---->>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lLIpqk894Is.html that will explain it.. Some Deere mowers have a little yellow button on the left side of the dash you can press and some like the X750 and X758 you pull up on the blade pto switch. Either one can be bypass so you don't have to press (or pull) the switch to mow in reverse.
@@Jthorn58great idea I gotta remember that I’m dealing on on today can’t make my mind up on gas or diesel but I guess spend the extra cash and get diesel
Engage pto implements like the mower at a lower throttle rpm then move up to whatever manual says do and to disengage an implement slow the rpm a bit. If you engage at full throttle it puts to much stress way too fast on everything and will wear or break it all faster. My Kubota BX recommends 3200 rpm for maximum blade tip speed on a 54 inch deck. Just read the manual or ask your dealer if you can’t find it in the manual. Have fun !
I love zero turns but how you supposed to mow and drink beer on a zero turn because you have to keep both of your hands on the handles. This is ideal 😎👍🏿🤙🏿
The gas is good and all but will drink fuel and that’s the main reason I didn’t want it. The diesel is pretty efficient and the it doesn’t bog down and it’s very torquey. It’s great for plowing my driveway and mowing 2-3 hours if I need it too
Also diesels typically hit their peak torque at lower rpms which will make them last a lot longer. Whereas the typical gasoline engine needs to be run at full throttle in order to hit their peak torque which will tend to make them use more fuel especially under a load. In my opinion.
I like the x758 and all around john deer. But I Opted for the 1025R not much more cost different from the 2. But the 1025R gives all most unlimited attachments.
Nice video. Two things. If you reverse the raise lower connections on your hydraulic connections so that the bottom lever controls raise lower function, you will find that pushing the bottom lever full forward places the plow in “float” mode. The plow lowers and floats with the contour of the ground surface ( without downward hydraulic pressure). A nice feature. Second, i don’t modify the rpms on mine to reverse. Blades continue to rotate in reverse if you pull up (slightly) on the pto mechanism on the right OR press the yellow button on the left side of steering wheel. Not sure why Deere designed w both options but there are times when you use the left hand to push ( e.g. when the beer is in the right... jk).
Nice tractor and thanks for the video. I thought you might mention the turning radius while mowing. It should turn very sharp unlike a compact utility tractor which has a much heavier front axle which is necessary to support the weight of a loader. Specified turn radius is about 2 feet compared to the JD 1025r which is more like 7 feet. Big difference there. The 1025r also has the ROPS that will annoy you continually if you are mowing around trees and other low hanging obstacles. For mowing, pretty hard to best what you have there.
I have the 54" plow for mine and it is worth every penny. I have two driveways and it cleans them up real fast. I have had my x738 for 8 years now and enjoy every time I use it. So far, problem free.
Nice machine. I have an X590 and I’d like to get one of these so we can have his and hers mowers lol. FYI, it’s generally recommended to not use the hose attachments on the mower deck. You risk getting water in the spindle bearings causing rust and premature failure. Just blow it out with compressed air after use.
@@DH-mf2lv I love the X590. Very wife friendly with the fuel injection and HST. Just turn the key and go. I went with the 48in deck. Went around the property and measured the narrowest areas. Overall great machine.
Sad to see you have to buy a guard for the front when the front grill could just be the guard. They make you buy a plastic hood, then you buy the guard, then the hood still breaks and you have to buy a new hood.
In Mowing 90 acres over the years I’ve also found you can get about 1600 hours before overhaul on the gas models but 3500 hours on the Yanmar diesels. Fuel consumption is about 1/2 as much as the gas equivalents. Make sure to get the optional anti scalp roller.
Probably not. The 4WD is a boss on hills, and this turns sharp. I’ve also added a box blade and 3 point harness since buying. If they made four wheel steer and 4wd together like they use to I would have paid extra for that
Very Cool Mower If I Had To Get A New One This Is What I’d Get. Can You Do A Video Of The Snow Blade Attachment And Disconnecting And Connecting The Mower Deck?
kubota ones has same set up but cheaper then deere plus its a hydrulic deck lift with shaft plus kubota doesnt have that system push a yellow button and deeper cup holder
@@boltonbiggs3 deere dealers in cannada is accully gone down hill bad because bad poor customer service and they dont go over the equipment with customers wich kubota dealers does plus deere dealers in canada accully lost 70 %customers
I paid for the deck and snowplow separately. I believe it was all of $3000 for the deck and $1500 for the plow. I believe the tractor itself was 10,500
@@Rob_Cleans_Cars For that kind of money, why wouldn't you spend the couple grand extra to get a 1025r? You'd gain so much functionality at comparatively little cost. I'm genuinely inquiring, not trying to shame your decision or anything.
Good question. I paid approximately 10k for the X758. The 1025r base price is about 15k, and the real added cost is a backhoe and bucket if you so chose and with a mower you’ll be almost 25k. I don’t see 25k in utility in that for myself as I mow a lot and I don’t want to rutt and chew my lawn with aggressive tires/heavier machine.
@@tylernicholson5319 If a beautiful cut is what you are after, nothing beats the X7s, they have a better, lighter footprint. The 1025R is better suited for everything but mowing, mainly the reason you hardly ever see one with a deck, usually taken off for ground clearance. You still get full hydraulics on the X7 and Little Buck Loader makes a beautiful bucket for this one specifically, The Little Bull. About$3800. And the loader is usually the big want on the 1025R, no-one ever buys one without the loader.
It's ALWAYS just RPM, and NEVER RPMS... Remember we're just measuring the number of revolutionS (plural) in just one minute (singular)...! Therefore jut RPM, NEVER RPMS...! 1 RPM, 2,500 RPM, 10,350 RPM...
This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use ru-vid.comUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability, deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.
Those machines are way overpriced! Your paying for union wages and benifits. They are a better product than the box store crap as long as your up above the 300 series. And don't be fooled by the low end stuff at the dealer. It's the exact same crap as the box stores and even built in the same plant. Ever notice the brilliant engineering with the way the fuel tank sits in the tractor? No hold- down of any kind . Just floats in a confined space. You think spilling your beer is a problem? Just wait until a hole is worn through the fuel tank from bouncing around with every little bump or rut you drive over! A cars battery and even that tractor battery is secure for that very reason. What the hell was John Deere thinking ? ... or maybe not!
The home depot online is not a good place to order a mower. paid for one 3 weeks ago and cant reach anyone that knows anything about it . called home depot 10 times called Pape' john deere. in sandpoint a week ago and they said they had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. they lied. it's been sitting there for 3 weeks. still dont have my mower.
I loved everything about this mower except the price of a new one. I purchased a used 3 year old Yanmar 4x4 tractor for less than half the cost of a new one .
I like your John Deere X758... how can I get one used or new... where were you bought it from and can you tell me and give me the price as well, I just want to get some idea how much to buy one...
Run the tractor at full speed to get your deck speed up. I have the X595 which is the same frame and engine as yours. I have a 54 front blade but I use the composite cutting edge on my 80 yards of concrete and hard surface my skid shoes. I also have a loader and snowblower for my tractor also. My neighbor bought the gas model and I can mow three times to his one time now he said he is going to get the diesel next time.
@@Rob_Cleans_Cars I had a 455 that was absolutely amazing!…it was getting old and rickety so I gave it to my godson to restore and it looks and works like new again!..these tractors are heirloom tractors…they’re made so good that your grandchildren will be mowing with it!…I know my old 455 will be mowing grass for at least another 10 years and it’s almost 30 years old now!..extremely well made units!
Think about buying one of these I mow grass for commercial with a X475 things nice I’d say but upgrade from a craftsman LT1000 😂 are these worth 18 G’s? I’d love a diesel but should I just buy a 1025R or a BX?
Fair question. A 1025r will not mow with the same ease and a X758. Lower center of gravity and better size for it etc etc. if you **need** a bucket then yes go bigger. I’ve also since put a 3 point hitch on and blade and it work great. Does it (almost) all.
i can tell you for a fact that the hood on a mower a fraction of that size is 800 dollars your hood would be 1500 maybe more. I need a mower like that i have 3 acres around my house and it's very difficult mowing but i'm not crazy about spending 12k. Currently i'm using a very small JD riding mower and it takes me 4 hours to mow. I was looking today at an X390 that's an option which is more reasonable at 5500 dollars
Only reason I would not get one,is for the money, the tractor size, and cost, you might as well buy a 1023r and have a three point, and front end loader. Even if you don’t have regular use for it,it’s nice to have. When you get old it really nice to have the loader to put stuff in the truck,or anything like that.
@@ralphllivrah9551 Pretty different utility though. The x758 will mow much better, especially the lower center of gravity on hills. The machine themselves do not cost much different, but adding a loader and especially a backhoe will run the cost up quick. I get the loader part for sure. If I wanted a loader though I would just buy a separate tractor for that and a backhoe.
You really need a $15,000 lawn tractor? I'm getting the S240 with 48" cutting with front blade for $3,800 out the door. I don't know about you, but I can think of a whole bunch of other stuff I could buy with the remaining $11,200 I saved. And I'm a Diesel nut with a Mercedes Diesel, a diesel bus conversion, and a Diesel Kenworth motorhome, 2-Diesel generators.
But it’s not just a lawn mower, although it does mow excessively well. There is a bucket list of attachments you can get for it that aren’t lawn related. Some people will have an ATV for plowing and a mower for mowing. Rather then having 2 subpar machines to maintain, you can have one excellent one that would do better at all the jobs.
@@Rob_Cleans_Cars I have about 3/4 acre of lawn. So for 7 months need a mower with bagging and for 5 months a blade on the front (maybe snow blower later). So an el cheapo S240 works for me. Actually-I don't understand why JD doesn't come out with battery powered tractors? Craftsman/Cub have a 42" that has 2 hour battery life.
I’m mowing about 3.5 acres. Imo under an acre is really small to spend much of anything on a mower like you said. For as much as I use mine I couldn’t even consider anything electric.
@@Tchristman100 The X700 isn't a lawn mower, its a tractor. This machine weighs 1200 lbs with a rider and can use ground contact implements like a plow or tiller. I believe they are very competitively priced for the power, capabilities and features they offer as the next step is a subcompact that is going to start at several thousand more and may be to big for many jobs. I have two acres and a 1025R size is not suitable for my property but the capabilities are still necessary for a number of tasks which this tractor fills perfectly. I'm hoping to get one someday soon and because I agree with Rob, this is a do it all type machine, instead of spending the money on 3 machines with three maintenance bills, tires etc you can have one good tractor that does it all and will last forever if well maintained.
I do not notice any noise. If all you’re doing is mowing then a x750, but on the same note you shouldn’t be getting one for *just* that. Between snow, steep hills, and wanting a tiller in the future I could not get by with 2WD
@@Rob_Cleans_Cars Ok awesome thanks mate, i pulled the pin on a brand new x758 with 54" auto connect and brush guard and just took delivery of it. Wow what a machine, its like putting a comfy lounge chain on a tank it's so comfortable to drive. Thanks for your video in helping me decide.
It was available with the 7 series until about 4 years ago. You can probably find them use. I will say though it wont come with auto connect (not really hard) but the 7 iron deck is heavy as sin.
@@Rob_Cleans_Cars Thank you for the response. I just had mine delivered today & I love it. I was curious about the 7 iron because I asked several dealers about getting the 7 iron deck and they told me that it was not available on the x series.
A 2023 model x758 tractor wirh 60" cutting deck is little over 17 grand. I might go ahead and buy one with 2 grand 3 point hydraulic hutch. Akao buy a 3 grand 48" rear tiller so I can earn extra income tilling garden beds and flower beds for other folks. Living in northeastern region of Tennessee lots of people have too many hillsides on their property. Si I could advertise to cut hills property's and earn good side income when I retire in 6 more years at the young age of 64.
I will admit that I'm quite jealous! I want one! With a heated hard cab, front end loader, plow, brush grapple, 3 point hitch, and a vast plethora of rear attachments. Ya know just the basics is all.
@@Huntersprojects Yeah there's a few different ones available for it out there. Most of them are aftermarket. I don't believe JD makes one for it anymore, but I could be wrong. You can do a Google search and find them pretty quickly.
2019, you can absolutely get a 7iron deck on any x7 of this “body style”, but the 7 iron was discontinued so you need to find one used. So I would imagine that the sales person is telling you correct based on what’s available new, but it can be bought used
Very good review, thank you. I am looking at this model and the Kubota GR2120 - Kubota diesel, 4x4, 54" deck, Front mounted Snowblower, Glide Steer for sharper turning. I really like this Deere and I really like the Kubota Glide Steer system for steering. Right now it looks like whoever gets their model in stock first will be the winner - man is stuff hard to come by nowadays!
Nice tractor and I would love to own one but my 455 just keeps going and going and I have the blade, the 40 loader, and a snowblower for it and can’t imagine what the cost with all that would be for the 758 lol
I considered a newer John Deere diesel, but in the end I just bought a 2 owner 430. I don’t think I could work on one of these, and I don’t think these will last.
@@Huntersprojects I got the whole deal 2 years ago for $5000.00. The tractor had only 800 hours on it and all the receipts from the yearly dealer service
A very nice video and tractor. That yellow button to press when going into reverse is like many other "safety" annoyances and makes the machine more dangerous. I do back and forth work under tree limbs and could not deal with that. Thanks.
No not with the 4wd it’s great. Rarely even use the locker. If you got a 2wd with the really pedestrian tires (idk what they’re called) you’d want chains
Get a Johnny Bucket scoop.... best investment you will make in this machine or Any power equipment. This machine takes the "Sr." version (Jr. is not hydraulic). You'll never need a wheelbarrow again and you can bury a horse w/it if you want 😀. Add on at least the toothbar for digging and maybe the snow-edge for plowing. (but they have a plow blade that swaps in of you want, too) Very few ppl need to "load" anything with a loader, and this keeps your cg low and safe (for mom or kids too) and the frame isn't up over the wheels so you can ram right into stuff if you want to.... you'll Never have that fun with a loader. Go get one. I have absolutely no connection with them, just have their Jr. model on my Simplicity and it's awesome-
Unfortunately they no longer make the 7 iron for the x758. I bought the last one the dealer had. That was recent though so maybe call around see if you can find one? They’ll pop up used too I’m sure.
They don't come with the edge deck. That's only available on the E100 series. The X700 come with the 48" AccelDeep and 54 and 60" come with the High Capacity
No, always mow at full throttle. It helps keeps the engine cool and puts less strain and wear on the engine. Always run at full throttle no matter what.... also engage blades at full throttle. theyre designed to run like that. always engage and disengage at full throttle, and always run at full throttle.
Never engage or disengage at full throttle. And you're not hurting it at all running at a lower throttle setting. It's liquid cooled with a thermostat. Air cooled engines you should mow at full throttle. Very nice tractor and video.
I agree air cooled mowing should be full throttle but liquid cooled you can idle and mow if you wanted lol at least without overheating. And if it did get hot theirs a warning light. I run my diesel about 60% throttle when brush hogging and 80% with the finish mower
@@semiprofessional8470 why mow at full throttle with air cooled? You just have to keep moving with them to get air to them. Makes really no difference high speed or low.
@@northdakotaham1752 that's not true. If you look on the frame of any jd tractor there is a little plate with the serial number, month and year of assembly and the place where it was built. For most compacts it is in Moline, Illinois.
@@lucapecorari8801 that seems logical...but since JD is already using Yanmar engines, what about the transaxle? Is that made by others also? I will look on the tractors here, 1025r and just bought a new X758 with Yanmar diesel. Could it be that the tractors are only just assembled in Moline?
