Agricultural machinery is a catalyst for change, enabling the adoption of new practices, technologies and innovations that enhance the quality and quantity of agricultural products.😊
Fascinating video! I guess I've always been a "wants to be" farmer but the dream never became a reality. Don't make fun of my ignorance but I always thought rice was a wet crop like cranberries. I am watching this in amazement to see that the combine tires and tracks are dry. I also commend you for making a video without music and without the endless commentary chatter some folks feel is necessary, just machinery sounds. That's the best music there is!
Thanks a bunch! Rice fields are flooded while the rice is growing but they pump them out to harvest. And yes, if you look at some of my other rice videos you'll see it can get very muddy sometimes. Guess it depends on how much rain there is during harvest also. Sometimes its dry though. Sorry for the late reply !
I really like your footage! No music, just pure machines sound and nice views. One thing I would probably like to add is one or two short clips of unloading at the farm or loading the truck (whatever is happening after). I'm curious if there is something different than standard crops combines, or is it just different concaves/sieves etc?
Thanks! I usually try to get some shots like that, but on this day there was a storm approaching so I was trying to squeeze out every bit of combine footage I could get.
Rice special combines have a different concave, but in general the internal parts are just tougher because rice is such a tough crop it wears the combines down alot if they are not rice specials
July 30. 2022. As a Civilian, (Not a Farmer)!, I've seen that modern Tech has led to too much land being farmed, & too much Aquifer water being used for such massive irrigation projects! ..Brothers & sisters! We've got to Slow things down! I suggest you all let a 1/4 of you're land return to Natures embrace! This benefits all Farmers in the end! As it reserves precious Aquifer waters, & Hunters will rejoice! As Deer & Gamebirds move back into those Reborn bushlands!! &!! The hunters will Pay you to hunt there!! You're the Winner in this game dear Farmers! Holy God guide you!
Must be nice not having to deal with levees spaced anywhere from 5 feet to 70 feet apart depending on field conditions and being able to harvest 45 feet at a time. 30 foot drapers are a pain with levees. Looks like that X9 does incredibly in rice.
Please tell me they are just using it for a demo lol I can't think how anyone can honestly justify financing a million dollar machine on top of everything else they have to have to operate. I still can't get over John Deere putting that high of a price tag on that thing SMH lol
Man, I'd love to get up there and check out some corn harvest but I been burning the roads the last three weekends with rice and need a break lol.. How long should they be harvesting?
You should film at Baronet Farms in Crowley off Baronet Farm road. Got some Case IH equipment and it’s an old fashioned family farm set up! Or Faulk Farms off Benton road in Crowley got all brand new case equipment and farm several thousand acres and have lots of equipment!
WowWe!! Sweet footage of this massive equipment at work! Interesting to watch rice harvest! First time seeing it done! I guess with how wet it is, you gotta go big or else you'll stay stuck! Lol Keep up the great work!
Thanks man, actually this field was very dry for rice harvest. If you look at a couple of my previous videos you’ll see a much more muddy rice harvest..
That's a great question and honestly I'm not sure. I'm not a farmer. I just love farm machinery and happen to have photography as a hobby. If I had to guess I'd say the smashed parts would not grow back.. I can ask next time I talk to a rice farmer though.
yes you can. usually but it doesn't catch up the stubble that didn't get flatten rice farmers roll after so they can be even. I think its better to mow it.
Tracked tractors don’t turn as well in muddy fields, when water leveling a common practice in south Louisiana rice fields, there are times when the blade is loaded they will not turn .
Ideal moisture is around 18-20% for harvest if I'm not mistaken. In Louisiana most farmers measure yield by barrels per acre, 162 lbs per barrel. Hybrid varieties are reaching over 50 barrels per acre, between 40 and 50 is not bad, depending on the numerous factors farmers face (price, weather, bills, etc..)
Sorry but I don't like the sound of my voice on recordings and I just do this for fun.. They harvest rice pretty much like soybeans or wheat if you're familiar with that
You are correct but this farmer was specifically selected to get a rice model this year .. Deere was in the area doing work on other prototype machines though
The farmers down here in South Louisiana flood the fields after harvest and raise crawfish. The chaft provides food and protection from predators for the crawfish.
Hello Dear, I hope you're well kindly telling me this machine is useful for how many types of crops harvesting except Rice I'm waiting for your answer......im with for your answer.....
I believe some farms may do that but not here in Louisiana. They will flood and raise crawfish in these fields after harvest. The crawfish need the straw.
Man its hot out here in north texas temp 104° degrees 😫 😩 out here chasing S790'S and S780'S and X9-1000's and X9-1100's harvesting wheat up here by the texas Oklahoma state line
Great video. That x9 looked massive compared to the 8R, - so is it still classified as a 'class 9' combine. Surely once they start, (and are), putting 50' headers on them they will have to be emptied more often, - so they will need bigger 'grain trailers' to keep up. One thing that always surprises me in harvesting rice, is, they don't use "tracked" tractors or carts, - It's not as if you can't get them.
Thanks, no this is a class 10 machine. We touched on that topic of them using tracked tractors but I don't think I got a solid answer. I may try and visit this farmer again in a couple weeks to go see this monster again, if I do I'll find out for sure.
@@AerialAg How high do these 'classes' go then.? - I have always been led to believe class 9 were the highest/biggest in rating and capacity. Or is it, if the likes of JD or CaseIH build an even bigger "Monster" then the class rating will get go up even more. The very large farms use bigger 'grain' trailers, - that one was getting 'pushed to the limit' taking the contents of those 2.
Christopher Lovelock That's exactly right, class 9 was the biggest but they've simply just built bigger. The outside isn't that much bigger, but the cleaning area, grain tank, engine etc etc are all much higher capacity.. the farmer was very impressed with this machine.. he said he can cut much faster and here was nothing on the ground behind.
@@AerialAg HI. Not being rude to you at all as a proud US Citizen, but to use an English expression, - "trust the yanks to build, (whatever it is), taller, wider, longer or more powerful". From your 'shots' it looked wider and quite a bit longer, that 'grain tank' looked massive, I was wondering how much heavier it is when it's full. I could see those tracks were w-i-d-e (lol), but aren't they going to find problems with 'sinking in' on any soft ground when loaded, - (or are they all going to be 'Tracked'). What's it going to be like if 'MacDon' or JD bring out a header that's even bigger than the 50' one you can get now. Oh, yes just out of interest - How Much Is It.? Cheers. .. Chris.
@@christopherlovelock9104 I believe the grain tank is about 1.5 of what S790 has. I heard through the grapevine that JD will be making even larger models in the next couple years. Not sure how true that is but one does have to wonder how big can they get? This field was pretty dry (especially for rice harvest) so I didn't get to see it in the mud. If the weather cooperates I may try to make another trip out and see this machine again so maybe I'll know more then. I believe its $975,000 w/o the header.
No they bought this one. The rice version is not in production yet and they are till working on it. Deere picked this farm to get one with the rice package early. They weren't sure why they were selected but jumped on the opportunity. I thought the bean/corn version was ready to go this year?
