I have the same symptoms, but also a frequent at times, mostly occasional engine shutdown. Choke, turn key, fires up. Everytime. Z930M 1600hrs. Ps. Thanks whoever mentioned the compatability of voltage regulators. I very much appreciate that tidbit of small engine info.
First check voltage , then consider cleaning the terminals and the ground, before buying new parts . Also test the battery especially if it’s older than three years
If the part is unavailable from JD, how do you plan to fix it? Do a google search on the item, or do you find the specs and replace it with a different unit from something else that works? I also do not understand why JD would mount it, where it was mounted? Why not flipped upside down to keep water from entering the plug area. Easy fix to prevent what happened, to you. Amazon had one ! The motor is built by Kohler, like the Fiero ignition module , clean and test before you replace. The terminals could really use some dielectric grease
Fluke is the best meters on the market, period ! Your choice of models is determined by your budget and how much use you’ll get. Lower priced models are imported, expensive models are made in USA . The large meter in Quincy compressor video is made in USA. Fluke meters hold their value as the price increase, a quality meter can actually sell for more than its purchase price in the future.
Does the motor stop running, or do the blades stop spinning? The blades have an electric clutch, the switch is prone to cutting out as you describe, often if you wiggle the yellow button, it will engage the blades. If it’s the motor, I’d have the battery tested at a reputable battery store ( not an auto parts store) or attach jumper cables to see it starts. and runs.
So what exactly was the problem? I’ve gotten a new voltage regulator and a new battery and it is doing this. My only two options now are the fuse and the stator.
@@mrcleanisin don’t take my word for it. AC amp meters can measure DC correctly, DC is viewed as one leg of an AC reading. DC amp meters cannot, read AC because they are not capable of reading a sinusoidal wave
@@normanpaulife Thank you for your response. A friend of mine who is a Certified electrician wants to know how many wires are inside your flex conduit that you are measuring with your clamp on fluke 323.
I haven’t tested baking soda on corroded electrical terminals such as switches and electronic components, but I have used white vinegar on with such with great success.
