No joke, John de Lancie playing Q is the best casting I have ever seen. I am a major Star Trek fan and Q is my favorite character.

I've always loved how Q was written (and performed by John) to be one of the few that could really put Picard on the spot. The chemistry between Stewart and De Lancie is a joy to watch. Such great actors, both of them.

He was in more then 6 episodes of the Next Generation. Encounter at Farpoint (26 September 1987) Hide and Q (21 November 1987) Q Who (6 May 1989) Déjà Q (3 February 1990) Qpid (20 April 1991) True Q (24 October 1992) Tapestry (13 February 1993) All Good Things... (23 May 1994)

His ST TNG appearances are very interesting. He was in the pilot episode in 1987 (first episode of the first series) and also in the last episode of the last series of the show in 1994. So he's really and quite literally the Alpha and the Omega of ST TNG!
@EmmanuelGoldsteinINGSOC

If you count each part of a two parter and count his appearances in Voyager, DS9 and Star Trek Borg, you actually arrive at 14 episodes all in all...

I was sick in the 80sand had to watch days of our lives with my mom, and he played a mentally handicapped character and I loved him in it. Funny, I was always a Star Trek nerd in school, and two of the characters I connected with because of other things they were in. Burton from reading rainbow was the other. Actor. I had seen Dune, but did not realize Stewart was in it until later.

The reason it seems like he was in more than just 6 TNG episodes is because he was in 10 TNG episodes :) Ive seen several interviews where he says he was only in 6. Even if you count the 2-parters as 1, he was in 8 episodes.

The thing about "Legend" was that DeLancie and Anderson pulled roles that were VERY different from the things they had popularized previously. DeLancie, who had been Q, played a brilliant but inarticulate nerd and Anderson played a technically disinclined but very charismatic friend. The two characters saved each other's bacon on a weekly basis. But the body language changed to the point where you would not have been able to guess the parts that either had previously played.

He always gets that wrong in interviews. I always take it as him being really humble, not remembering exactly and not wanting to overstate it. But it is indeed 8 of TNG, 1 of DS9, and 3 Voyager episodes. He had some appearances in the TNG era video games as well. Oh, and he's in the most recent Star Trek Continues episode.

How does everybody get the number wrong?!! It's TWELVE!!! If you count the two-parters each as two, then it's FOURTEEN episodes! Here's the list: TNG: - "Encounter at Farpoint" (Season 1, two-parter) - "Hide and Q" - "Q Who" (Season 2) - "Deja Q" (Season 3) - "Qpid" (Season 4) - "True Q" (Season 6) - "Tapestry" - "All Good Things..." (Season 7, two-parter) DS9: - "Q-Less" (Season 1) VOY: - "Death Wish" (Season 2) - "The Q and the Grey" (Season 3) - "Q2" (Season 7)

Did delancie forget that the trelane q relationship was covered in the non canon novel 'q squared'? Its not canon but he posed for the cover and its a very interesting read. It reveals that in contradiction to the voyager storyline trelane was a child born into the continuum and that the beings at the end of the squire of gothos were his parents. Kinda. The female was his mother and the male was her husband and thought he was trelanes father, but his real father was john delancies Q though an affair he had with the female q.

@RogersRoyal
@RogersRoyal 5 лет назад
I don't care what he or anyone says about his episodes. Tapestry is hands down the best Q episode of any appearance he made. All Good things, of course great episode. But Tapestry was just so amazing an episode. It had Q really doing what he does best. Abusing his powers, teaching Jean Luc a lesson, along with the great chemistry those two have playing off each other, comedy (Flowers for Jeen Luke Pickard and waking up in bed next to him.. LOL) and it was just a great story. But even John himself here said that Q is at his best in moments like that so I think he too appreciated the episode. But yeah I can watch Tapestry over and over again and never tire of it. Sadly there are some bad Q episodes (DS9 and Voyager I'm looking at you) but he did make the show that much better and we are all better that his character is a big part of the franchise now. Oh and John... there were 8 (or 10 if you count two as two parters) episodes of TNG you were on.. ;)

Just a general tactic when someone is chatting in an audience, which is particularly obnoxious because you're somewhat hostage to them...lean into their conversation and say, in slightly louder volume (enough that others hear) "Oh, I knooooooooow! That's so cool! Tell me more! I'm really stoked about that!" Theoretically should handle any situation.

Yet even this has been known to tragically backfire. I played this hand once and the target didn't get it. He grew even more exuberant and now engaged ME, expounding even further on his mundane little personal rock and roll story. This was on a redeye plane flight. Everyone was trying (and failing) to sleep.

Ha! lmao :-D Actually, what I tell them before I turn on my camera is, "This thing can hear every word you say and so can thousands of people... Just so you know." But for some reason, they don't believe me and a handful of people want to sit there and have a conversation with me... Then they think I'm being rude cause I don't want to talk with them. lol

Shame so many rude people chattering along and playing with their phones during all this. So FN rude. If they are that bored with JD, they should just leave. Let others listen with out distraction. This is why I won't go to 1 of these things. The fanatics are too self absorbed in themselves and have no consideration for anyone around them. How many times I have seen people stand up at the mic and others give them grief for something they ask/share or how long they are up there, etc. I get that there are sometimes thousands of people at these things, but there is no way dozens of people will get time at the mic, so accept it and let the few that do, get their moment w/out harping on them. Just FN rude.
