Thanks for doing this version - this entire live concert is my most favorite.. JD was an amazing singer, musician and songwriter... hope you listen & react to more by him (especially this particular venue) -- appreciate your reaction! (written for his wife: Annie)
John Denver is a great singer and song writer. He sounds just as good live as he does on the studio versions. He has loads of great songs and is a folk singer rather than a country singer. He wrote this in 10 minutes on a ski lift after a row with his wife. If you like this then you should listen to 'For You' which he sang at the same concert as it is fantastic. He died far too young. R.I.P. John.
Annie was his wife. If I recall correctly, the story goes that they had had a fight just before he went out skiing. He was feeling regretfull and wrote the song about his feelings for her on the ski lift. It just flowed out of him. Everyone's suggetions are good. He was a wondwrful singer songwriter and deservedly popular.
John Denver is my most favorite artist! That Wildlife Concert, I listened to it every day in high school and I love it! John is one very influential songwriter! He wrote "Rocky Mountain High" and was one of the writers for "Take Me Home, Country Roads" which a lot of people know. I recommend those 2 I mentioned but my favorite song is "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" and the one of The Wildlife Concert is my 2nd favorite version! Also "This Old Guitar" is a great song to check! I can send links if you need any!
In 1973 I watched a movie that completely changed my life. The movie was Sunshine (not the sci-fi one) and the soundtrack started a lifelong love of the planet I stand on and John Denver. To this day, I cannot hear a John Denver song without being thrust back to that movie. His death, of all the celebrity deaths over the decades, was the hardest for me to come to grips with. I'm so glad another generation has found him. Thank you for covering him. ❤ Oh, and, I guarantee you've heard some of his other songs. Leaving On A Jet Plane, Rocky Mountain High, Calypso, and probably even Thank God I'm A Country Boy. I've encountered so many people repeating the same thing: "Oh!! Is THAT who did that song?!?" 😉
One of the most beautiful love songs ever. His voice is so clear and beautiful. His death hurt me so bad. I was in my late teens and early 20s when he was so popular. Please do a reaction video to his song "Rocky Mountain High." I guarantee you'll love it.
John recorded around 300 songs and wrote or cowrote over 200. His lesser known songs are some of his best imo. He has 2 different songs that became official State songs in the US. He was classed as folk or country but he thought of himself as Western ( when country was Country & Western music), I personally don't think he can be pigeon-holed. He was a conservationist, humanitarian, philanthropist, visionary and pilot. Had many hits in the 70s. He was also the first American in almostca decade to play in USSR, before Billy Joel even. He had concerts all over tge world, including Japan, Korea, China, hile as well as Europe and Australasia. Played 6 and 12 string accoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, fiddle, mandolin. Oh and for Annies Song he sang a verse in the language of the country he was in, plus Japanese, Chinese and Irish folk songs in their language. A very special musician.
Annie Was his wife. And this was when they separated before getting a divorce. I think it's just about how a true love can fill up every part of your soul and he's trying to put it in words which is hard to do.
Written about and to his wife at the time...filling his senses, , his sight,, his smell,, touch....total love.. John had demons, was divorced from Annie. Substance abuse...thought he crashed his plane into the waters off Monterey California committing suicide....
