There's just so many of us. Found Scale Auto in a Hobby Shop, found HHMB via their ads in Scale Auto, and we've been friends ever since! I think it's really cool all the HHMB old timers that have checked in in the comment section! Hope you all are well!

Used to love going to the old Hobby Heaven message board. Waiting for the old 56k modem to kick in. I was more of a lurker, loved reading the content and checking out the photos posted. Jackson used to crack me up. Then Facebook came along and changed it all for me. Thanks for sharing

Mr Model Citizen, I was once a member of Hobby Heaven alao, and I would like to ask John K Dezan a question; Did he ever do anything with the resin 1:24 Holden HQ Monaro I sent him about 20 years ago? I hope you are both well

Still unbuilt sadly. I’ll have to look for it and put it on the build pile.

Great Video. I also never really got of the hobby, after Model Car and Model Car Science left us, I made due with the odd automotive article in Fine Scale Modeler and Scale Modeler till one day I walked into a Hobby shop and picked up my first SAE issue 22 Nov/Dec 1982 .I have since then collected every issue except #2. If I remember correctly Tim hosted The Adventures in Scale Modeling TV show on PBS plus had his own model magazine.

Tim did have his own magazine, In Scale Illustrated and I’ve never seen his video.

Cool show. I remember John, Jackson & the Can Am garage from back in the Hobby Heaven message board days in the late 90's . Pretty cool story of how Jackson got his name. John did not mention , where Jackson came from. Jackson came from the Italeri truck accessories set #720 in 1:24 scale. Thanks for the trip down Memory lane.

I feel your pain Matt. My first model kit ever, was around 1964. Got it as a gift, along with a paint set from Testors. It included several class jars of paint, one jar of thinner, a paintbrush, and glue. I didn't know you could mix thinner with paint.. I thought it was just there to clean the paint brushes. I brush painted the whole car with silver. I could tell something was wrong because there was so many brush marks on the car. But I had a great support group.. my parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents. All of them said how wonderful the car was. Hahahahaha I thought, hmmm, maybe it's not so bad after all. And continued modeling from there. The Corvette was a 1960 model, give or take a year. Because it looked like the Corvette from the TV show Route 66. Which was way cool. I didn't watch the show.. it was an adult show. But I saw it on the TV. Two cool guys driving around in a cool car. Haha

Well first, Steve. You just showed your age. 😂 I'm now starting to wonder how many car modelers started out brush painting their car models with silver paint? My daughter did it too. 😂
