Hi, Just thought I’d let you know that this week John Farnham has undergone a 12 hour operation for cancer (something to do with his mouth or throat) and ALL of us Aussies are hoping he is ok. This came as a shock to all of us. He is a hugely revered person here and this song means so much to us for so so long. Thanks.

Loving your reaction and loving this: ... "you have to have instruments worthy of his voice" ... John gives 110% every time. His passion and energy are palpable - he involves himself with the audience - loves them. His concerts always feature superb musicians and he usually has little "solo" features for them and always acknowledges them. Many of the musicians and his back up singers have been with him since the 80s. John never disappoints. He likes to fling the microphone around too - not sure if he's ever hit one of the band members!!! He is the real deal. As a matter of interest ... this song was John's break-back song in the mid-80s after the Aussie music industry basically shunned him. Well, the fans never shunned him - we love him to bits because he commits that voice of his to every lyric, every note and in between songs gives us some laughs. Thanks for showing John the respect he has earned over 6 decades of singing his heart out.

At the same concert, John performs The Beatles- HELP. But his rendition is nothing like the original Beatles version. John Lennon heard John Farnham version and commented: "this is how the song should be sung". Also, the audience participation at the beginning of HELP, is astounding. You got is soo right when you expressed that the orchestra was there for John Farnham. He is well respected and loved as you can see by the response of the audience. In fact the country respects and admires him so much that in1987 he was named 'Australian Of The Year' by our Federal Government for "his outstanding contribution to the Australian music industry over 20 years".

This song is perfect. I can't say that about many songs at all. There's just nothing you could change to improve it. Lyrically it's inspirational without being clichéd, the vocal is incredible, the choice of tempo is brilliant. And the bagpipes? Like, I can't take it! 😆 But seriously, how could you make this track any better? You just can't.

My two favourites are John Farnham singing When The War is over, Last time 2003. He’s about 54 here and his voice is off the charts. John and Jimmy Barnes When something is wrong with my baby is awesome too. John is the GOAT.🥰

To my aussie friends!! You should be so proud of all your groups, but i have watched and listened to this song and amazingly it gets better every time i hear it. I don't ever get tired of it. I hope john makes a good recovery from his condition. He has given his entire life to Australia unconditionally . His connection to his fans and audiences is unbelievable. John’s got one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. This is maybe the third or four time he’s been in the channel and the man is amazing. Then when you combine him, the song’s message and that orchestra, it becomes magic. Loved this song and your comments. 😀

The bagpipes are very Aussie - many Australians come from convict stock and freemen from Ireland and Scotland ........... I myself as a young girl [60 years ago] learned Scottish Highland Dancing [you know around the crossed swords] for a time, and we would also go to the Sydney Cricket Oval and listen to the Pipe bands practice. Also in our speech you will hear throwbacks to certain phrases from both countries. John is really "The Voice' and glad you will be looking into his catalogue further.

I have heard this song at least 100 times and we call him the Voice. It just made me see we don’t sit in silence and we don’t live in fear. Australia might be the same size as America but there are only almost 26 million of us. We are still mighty. John has given us more than 50 years of music, he never had a voice lesson but I have heard him sing almost every genre and do it so well. I loved your reaction. Thank you.

You should react to John Farnham ‘help’ live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. Crazy performance. Also you should check out Jimmy Barnes who is another Australian icon, specifically his performance with Joe bonamassa ‘stone cold’

John went from teenage pop star, to the king of pop, and then nothing for some time. Pretty boy, girl pop guy. But then he joined "The Little River Band" and gained respect. After that, he created the biggest voice in the world. Every step of the way he made himself better. That is why Australia loves him. No one sings like him.

Ty so much for your review. What is so sad for us Aussies is that this remarkable human has been diagnosed with cancer and is recovering from a recent operation to remove it. What is even sadder is he may never sing again due to this diagnosis. I’m so privileged for I have seen him live many times and I’m so blessed to have those memories as many of us here r. Thanks for the reaction to "The Voice". I absolutely agree with you with your frustration at performers who can't reproduce the same quality in a live setting. It's so disappointing!! You will find most Australian artists have to cut their teeth on being able to perform live before they get any major appreciation from audiences here let alone if they want to make it overseas. You cannot go wrong with any live performance by Farnsey. He is more than just a fantastic singer( arguably the greatest), he is a fantastic PERFORMER.

One of John Farnhams best recorded performances is “gethsemane” from his Jesus Christ superstar tour in the early 90s.. Makes John Legends latest rendition sound like a tik tok production.

Farnsey is just amazing! His records are fantastic but his live performances always outshine his studio performance. I don't know what you have covered but at the same concert he did a version of the Beatles' song HELP with the MSO. You should check it out as it is on youtube. Also have you checked out the concert THE MAIN EVENT with John, Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow? That is on YT too. Anthony was Australia's phantom from the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Also check out ONJ with John at the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics singing together DARE TO DREAM - again on YT. Many many songs on here as John has been in the industry since 1967 with Sadie the Cleaning Lady (again on YT) when he was 18. He was the King of Pop and he sings often with Jimmy Barnes too, and he was the King of Rock down here. Anyway glad you like his strong voice.

John singing Angels with his backup singer/friend Lisa Edwards is something you should not miss. His voice is so strong and clear. Also Burn for you is a song that he and a few others wrote about leaving their wives/partners at home when touring the country for their concerts.

His own band with the MLB symphony orchestra. The orchestra had ball as it's a terrific change from Mozart, Beethoven, & the clasics. He holds the mike a long way out sometimes coz his voice is so powerful. Mike might explode 🤣🤣

To really hear his amazing and stunning vocals you should listen to When something is wrong with my baby, a duet with another Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes. It shows off both of their vocal ranges to perfection. It's a must listen to, please do yourself a favor...you will love it, it's very soulful! He sings seemingly with no effort at all and is a lovely human being with a great sense of humor❣

My friend used to go to school with hes son and he’s stories of going around to Johnnys house playing pool and having Johnny just sing over the games room bar was just a common thing for him growing up as he was just so happy & willing to engage & entertain & hang out with hes son & he’s mates. I was in grade 5 when this song came out in 1986 and we kids instantly picked it as our closing song to our end of year play performance. Great memories as it brings a tear of joy & pride of this great Aussie & message in the performance - which is so relevant to today’s chaos & confusion in response to the growing totalitarian global control

Your observations about the instruments, the crowd, the vocal chops of JF, just add to the message of the lyrics that we all need to hear today. Dramasyde, you should check out one of Johns long time backing singers Vanetta Fields. Vanetta has performed with the 'biggies' Tina Turner Pink Floyd Steely Dan Bob Seger Barbara Streisand. Vanetta immigrated to Australia 1982 and is much respected here.

This version (with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra "backing him") just blows me away every time I watch the video/listen to it. John Farnham has a tremendous voice. I never tire of hearing him sing. I feel that this song along with johns voice has such far reaching feel good factors...it touches humanity in feelings...depth of feeling is so strong and its so damn catchy too 100% a really great piece....its one of those one off anthem types...

He is now in his 70s and he can still belt out his songs as he did in the 80s and 90s, an Aussie treasure God bless him.
