John Hennessey discusses his Ford Focus ST with it's 300 horsepower HPE300 upgrade. For more information please call 979-885-1300 or visit www.HennesseyPe... www.TunerSchool...
LOL.....I was watching this and I looked at my wife and asked her did he just say rear wheels??? She said isn't our car front wheel drove? HAHAHA even my wife who isn't into car knows our car is FRONT WHEEL drive!!!!!!!!
That sounds about right... a "cold air" intake on a forced induction front wheel drive does add around 13hp to the rear wheels, and 0hp to the front ones.
***** dude shut up with the fucking wrx the ford is cheaper bigger more fuel efficient and does not have a shitty interior plus that 0-60 in 4.7sec shit is the sti which cost 13 grand more
Dear Mr.Hennessy: The ford Fiesta St has been released recently with 220hp and a pretty much fiesta version of this focus. I would thing it would draw very much attention to your company if you modified one of those but put a wrc body kit on it and make them awd ( as ford produces an awd platform for the fiesta now ) you could honestly make a car that everyone has been wanting since ken block starting hooning his. Just an idea
So. $1500~ for 300hp instead of 252hp? I dont know if I would buy that or not. I mean, the badging and s/n and stuff is pretty cool, but is that too much for an extra 50hp?
To let u all know there is a sound actuator in the car by design. It is a microphone near the intake system. They is a small speaker like puck under the dash. So u can hear the car and rpm because in Europe they have strict laws in regards to exhaust. Vw golf going has one as well.
RWD? ... quite a compliment for the handling like a rear wheel drive coming out of the corners...the slow in , fast out handling actually mimics an American rwd because of its heavy understeer needing throttle balance coming out of the turn...but fwd ruoles in this case
ehh this package seemd lazy, like just to makea quick buck. Performance packs always go towards downpipe first, not a useless and quite catback. Cobb tuner= 650$ intake/tIh=249$ catless dp=250$ custom e-tune=200$ colder plug=40$ waaaaaaaaay more bang for buck.
fordmustanggen5 Not at all, we first purchased the Access Port and played with the tunes, then we went ahead and added the StageIII kit and a blow-off to protect the turbo. We just ran the 4th dyno on it and it's showing a true 292bhp, but we are still tweaking. All together we have about $1700.00, but we did get the Port for about $300.00 under cost. Also have a cat-back system but it was hand built.
fordmustanggen5 I give my son most of the credit. I am old school, strokers are my thing. But he's 23 and knows the tuners better than I do for sure. But I found out I am never to old to learn. Cats in the Cradle syndrome ya know.
I bought a 2004 (in 2004) three door Focus for $10,000 and I'm still driving it and enjoying it. With good tires I can go almost anywhere (except puddles at full speed) like today, sub-zero temps, snowy roads (just plowed), I got a lot of looks (what!). The only thing is when I accelerate, the engine gives me away and everybody gives me such looks. Makes me laugh out loud!!!! It's a lot of fun.
Beatrix Phocas The old ST/SVT or the new one? I used to have an SVT, that thing was alot of fun to take down back roads, barely weighed over a ton, so the power was always enough.
Is there any way to ever possibly make this specific car or any car Rear Wheel Drive? because tbh i am not driving yet and when i get my licence next year I am being given as my first car a 1992 Honda 2 door hatchback, and tbh i hate the fact that is it FWD and i obviously wont have enough money to drop it on a better car, and plus i do not mind having to do work on a car in order to get it just the way I imagined it. is there anywhere i can get my future Honda to be RWD?
what wrong with a 92 honda? im not saying i would switch my honda to RWD im just sayin if you wanted to switch maybe this Focus ST to RWD, is it possible?
MultiCrazyman10 While it is possible. You talk about money being a problem. You would need a boat ton of money to do it. then why? It's a 92 Honda. What purpose would it serve? "Look at me and all the money I wasted on a '92 Honda!" Yeah... great reason. Try looking for sometime like an Infiniti J30. It's a RWD car to begin with.
It's actually $1495, but still you get a 300+hp 4banger with good handling, reasonable space and decent styling for around 30k. Not too shabby. Still a Ford though.... lol
Look up superchips, they offer a flash tuning kit for the Focus that gives a genuine 300bhp with nothing more than a remap that you can install yourself for around £300 (I think that is around $425 US) although, having a bigger intercooler would still be a wise addition just for peace of mind.
Grant l I bet they are, given Hennessey's proven ability and the fact that John himself drives this thing daily. I would imagine the boost has probably been cranked pretty high.
Man if I had $30,000+ to spare I'd buy this car immediately. Maybe in white though. I love the red but unless you drive perfect all the time, it might catch some unwanted attention 👀👮🍩🚓
Not a fan of the Focus ST. Steering and clutch feel remote. Stock it is difficult to get the power to the ground. Just adding the sports seats puts you at 26k. On the other hand the Fiesta ST is AMAZING! What a wonderful car to drive for $2400 less.
fatboy19831 Well, we will see with the new ST coming out next year. Seems Ford listens to consumer feedback. Like they worked on the center stack to make it easier to navigate. Personally it would be hard to say which I would get, if I had the money lol. Things will be changing for me next year. I do work in a tire shop. I very much like the focus whenever I get to pull them in, never and ST. However, I can't comment on the Fiesta. I can't recall ever working on one but I am 6'3. I have heard mixed things on Fiestas in regards to head room. I am 6'3 and despite the fact that I am skinny I do have a slightly wide frame. Most sup compacts just feel a little too cramped for my taste.
Bryan Henry I am 6.5 feet tall. I am fine in the Fiesta and Focus. No one can sit behind me. May as well be in a..........BRZ. For me an BMW X3 , Dodge Charger or even an Camry/Accord/ Altima are some of the few 4 doors I can utilize for the tall folks in my family. All the small mid-sized domestics are useless as a true 4 door for me.
He said 3 time the car is front wheel drive. He also said 3 time that so and so mod adds how ever much horse power "at the rear wheels" I understand its probably just a habit but come on. If you are going to make a video to sell a product, make sure you are using the correct terms.
Bought a Mk 2 Focus ST New, this has the 2.5L 5 cylinder Turbo engine. I don't see myself selling for this ST. Back to 4 cylinders and 2.0L... It's the engine I love in my ST. Plus, I know I'm biased but..I'm not a fan of this shape Focus, especially the huge rear lights! Nope...I'll stick with my orange ST thanks.
JOHN HENNESSEY, you don't know of a single car with a better bang for your buck? how about the 2014 WRX, stock 0-60 well under 5 seconds and mid to low 13 second quarter mile. when you tune them, they gain a lot more than 40whp. try about 60-70 awhp and that's even larger because of AWD loss. that's the shitty stock turbo as well. MAKE A REAL KIT. probably charge 10 grand for this.
15whp from a " cold air intake" LOLOL.... Yeah I want to see the dyno on that. Its open filter in the engine compartment.. I guess he doesn't understand thermal dynamics. Sucking hot air doesn't make MORE power..lol
If you are running a Cobb stage 3 tune I hope you have the hardware installed that the tune was made for, else you would be better off with a stage 1 tune.
conn4m4n I driven shotgun in rs'es who are frontwheel drive who have 400hp and it could coop with that power just fine, just don't floor it stupid, cause front or rear wheel drive if you don't dose the gas you spin in both of em.
swansmeister Flooring it is the whole fun of having a car like this, I rather have 300hp and be able to floor the car and be able to control it than have a car that has 400hp and have to watch how I step on the pedal. I mean I understand that its always nice to have the horse power but I always like the feeling of being able to put the pedal to the floor.
***** well I rather have a car that can ''scare'' you, wich you have to dose and control, a car that keeps you busy and alert but not in a car like that, in a real wheel driven carit would be awesome. you can never have enough power imo, having that power doesn't necessarily mean you have to put it all down at once and floor it........
it's cool to see everyone that tunes cars just won't directly go to HONDA/ACURA. the Focus seems like a hatch to be reckoned with. I was kinda disappointed of this video. when I see the name Hennessey, I expect 2 see a pretty good production(video). I've seen kids and certain race crews that make better videos than this and they're not a well known tuner shop. BUT THE CAR IS HOTT!
lol my car isn't a race car, friend. I only said I've done 171 in my bone stock, not modified, not turbo'd, what 190 bhp? RSX and that that's when the speed restrictor stops it. If that's really your car in your picture, looks nice man(at least the front end). I'm not tryin to be a hater, I just thought it's pretty lame if a turbo'd 2 liter can't do 150MPH. I mean, how fast does that Gti go?...160+ i'd say, depending on where the speed restrictor is.
A Ford Focus as your daily driver? I think I have a much different opinion of you now. Don't you have any sons that can take over your business? You should go to a doctor and think about getting a testosterone replacement therapy. I was thinking a Hennessy Venom or a supped up truck or something as your daily driver.
First off the guy makes money whoever said that,,,, But John, why don't you play with BMW's, I love all your cars and watch all the videos but you would make so much more money if you went a little foreign.... I would want you to look at my BMW... anyway #BMWforLife
Captain Cocoa Puffs 2015 Mustang comes with independent rear suspension.. pretty sure they're doing it to beat the Corvette Stingray as handling is the main downfall to the GT500.
So, you're telling me the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 which pushes 662hp. and 631lb.-ft. of torque won't beat a Corvette Stingray that pushes 460hp.(455hp. base model) and 460lb.-ft. of torque in a race? both 2014 and $55,000(Ford) vs $53,000(Chevy)? On a small track the Corvette will win due to the independent rear suspension, in a drag race the GT500 owns the Corvette. 2015 the Mustang goes from the GT500 name back to the Cobra name and gets a new motor along with an independent rear suspension, so the gap will be closing for track use, assuming they don't go to a smaller motor of course.. These are the facts.. I'd rather have raw horsepower as I don't plan on ripping turns in the midwest where roads get dusted with gravel.
I just live where we don't have mountains or carving roads.. If I lived in the mountains I'd probably go corvette.. Since I don't I prefer the feeling of being sucked into my seat, I can't comment on comfort since I've yet to get into one of these. As for having power you can't use I understand that as well especially from a supersport motorcycle standpoint, it's something I wouldn't want to drive everyday but I also wouldn't want to drive any $50k sports car around everyday as they're just not comfortable for extended drives, I like large sedans for long drives and everyday comfort. I still look forward to see what comes out in 2015, I'm guessing Ford will downsize the 5.8 supercharged motor to a higher end v6 ecoboost, guess they could boost the 5.0 as well and get decent numbers.
Man if I had $30,000+ to spare I'd buy this car immediately. Maybe in white though. I love the red but unless you drive perfect all the time, it might catch some unwanted attention 👀👮🍩🚓
