Easy, hes my favorite horse of all time!! He had talent but he was "great" because of his will and heart.

He had that thing that is elusive in the world of breeding racehorses. It is heart,the undaunted will to win. His trainer said he was always confident going into a race with John. "The only way to beat him was nail him right at the wire,if you went head to head he would just run you into the ground!

Wasn’t he really something, wow, one of the greatest racehorses to ever step foot onto the racetrack.

He wasn't great because of his talent but of his temper (lol) and his will.

D Wayne Lukas once told me that anymore with a size 3 shoe has a size 3 brain to go with it .....that’s why the Jockey was still getting after him with with a 10 length lead!

we were gonna claim him that day, but the 35k seemd a bit steep, we were gonna wait a couple weeks and claim him for 32k :)

Was that jockey still spankin JH with a 10 length lead or was he just showing him the "crop"?

I read that John Henry’s owner once fired a jockey for wrongfully whipping him when he had such a lead. This may just be the guy who did it. It sure didn’t look good for him to continue hitting him like that.
