John was one of the nicest, kindest men I’ve ever met. And a tasteful genius on steel. He knew how to compliment any singer. Laney has such a great voice.

John”papa”...wow what a nice steel sound....so professional...this fella just knew how to compliment any singer!!! I am sure your playing well for our LORD,

John played this as though he was doing a studio recording , complementing the singer .....what a fine tasteful player .

Mr. Hughey created a special style of playing. Also like to mention, let us not forget the great guitarist "Bobby Caldwell" who for years was in the staff band for the St.Louis Steel Shows "R.I.P."

Laney sounds a lot like Connie Smith. A little more subtle, less exaggerated in her phrasing.
