Thank you for this very interesting documentary. My husband was a direct descendant of this remarkable man by his granddaughter marrying into my marriage family's name. When I viewed the painting of John Jay at the beginning of this documentary I was amazed that my husband had some of the facial features of his great-grandfather. Our two children have inherited two of his family's serving spoons etched with JJ.

Thank You for this very well researched documentary on Chief Justice John Jay. He is a founder mostly known here in NY, especially NYC as his association to history is more with the North East colonial America. By the time the US extends west of the Mississippi he was already retired and elderly. Moreover, his son was mostly a lawyer here in the North East. Fun Fact: Within the City University of New York there is a college that bears his name that is dedicated to the study of CIty, State and Federal Law. Cheers from NYC.

What fun! A British narrator. Was the writer American, a citizen of the UK or other? That questionable treaty of 1893 did provide for America's keeping what we now call the North Central portion of the United States under the ultimate control of the federal gov't. I don't think there's any American who would mind one of the framers having supported the British in a number of ways so long as our economic concerns were honored. Jay and Marshall are generally seen as the two most overlooked framers. If you haven't done a video on the second Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that would be marvelous.

I think the anarchy of 2020 perfectly demonstrates the perils of weak institutions and the general public acting upon unreliable information and populist politics - i.e. mass demonstrations and riots influenced by foreign agents resulting in the destruction of private and public property, along with deaths. Plus, all of the COVID-19 conspiracy theorists and the common refusal to help control the spread of the disease. Even today, just look at the strength of climate change deniers in America. It's astounding! You have more rights and freedoms than most people. I'm not sure you could hold the country together with less governance and / or a weaker institutional legal system.

I've got to say, this channel produces some of the most well produced and thoroughly researched biographical films. It's more like a university worthy lecture than some of the 'documentaries' that major media organisations produce these days, where they only want to focus on rebisionism and pushing an emotional political narrative that suits the current day, instead a fair consideration of people and their deeds in light of the socio-cultural context of the day. 39 minutes in to the video the flag shown with 13 stars when and why did that come to be from the circular pattern of stars with red and white stripes ? Have to research that I guess. John Jay with out question was an very interesting figure as an American involved to bring forth ideals to actions . How ever Almighty fate had it be for him as for it will for people of today still using words and writings to convince others towards consensus this still exists however the popularity being honest as an individual with pride in honor is lost for people of John Jay times would die for their ideals and today they only will kill for theirs.
