In 1980 John Kay went back out on the road as John Kay & Steppenwolf. A few former band members put a bogus Steppenwolf band together in late 1978 and 1979. John did not like that as the bogus band wasn't that good. The Steppenwolf name was being trashed big time !! John put together a really tight fit of musicians together and drove the bogus bands out of business. The new John Kay & Steppenwolf went on to record 4 albums of all new material between 1980 and 1990 !!!
