Great interview... minus your misunderstanding of University's purpose. There's an aspect of academia that both of you haven't given sufficient thought. It's not only about producing a workforce. Your workforce producing bootcamps and 1-year courses feed from the Research and Development that Academia and Research institutions produce. Let's respect the other parts of the ecosystem.
@Larreth University's purpose is much broader than producing people that are ready to work on a piece of code. University teaches theories, fundamentals, analysis and deep thinking about scientific topics, research methodology, how to produce new bodies of knowledge, etc. These are not things you learn in a 6-months course or bootcamp. Teaching people how to program in Javascript or any language for that matter, is only touching the surface of Computer Science/Engineering. Those short courses actually consume the fruits of traditional Academia/University. I'm not one to debate on RU-vid comments, so I'll urge you to go and do some proper thinking about what Universities produce and their fit in society. It doesn't require extensive research... just a bit of thinking beyond the common workspace "I-don't-need-to-know-calculus" narrative.
True. I love the dude. Great work. Kudos to him. But imagine a doctor practicing on people?? Track record does not come easy as the dude portrays it to be. There's also an element of luck in success. I'm also successful and I acknowledge the luck.
@@prowezwhatever u do u gotta get the benefits out of it.imagine having ur head stacked with all those fundamentals..ect.But yet unemployed.truly speaking I'd rather have bare minimum knowledge and get in the working space I'll learn fundamentals along the way.started coding 2 years back and am currently 17y/o(matriculant).my projects made me R120000+ so far.mind u am still living in Soshanguve with my mom.so my plan is to brush up my skill at any reputable bootcamp for a 'SINGLE YEAR.not 4years.'Time lost is never regained.'Hunger hunts the smart'.
I dont think there's anything wrong with doing what others are doing already . Very few companies are monopolies in what they do like NVIDIA & TSMC etc. Just find ways to add value in your chosen niche.
i go to a uni that encourages you to build a business and if it’s sustainable you can get funding from the Dean… so not all universities are scammers honestly
The moment universities were bashed, I stopped watching and disliked the video, there's a lot of anti Intellectualism on the internet I can't have the algorithm suggest such stuff to watch.
