That is real talent of John and George.... George walking in cold, John making it as he moves a long... and the two fall in sync - not just physical (musical) sync - but mental and spiritual... that's where greatest, genius comes from. We lost two genius' - Can you imagine if they were still here today?
I much prefer Paul's upbeat and happier style, but John and George were geniuses in their own "write". It is sad that John was taken the way he was, and George suffered too toward the end. All the Beatles created such a legacy of incredible music for the whole world to enjoy. Love lives on.
@@job-ye4mq I believe he would be making amazing songs and joining in on many of the social issues of the day - can you imagine John walking down 5th ave NY, NY with 100,000 people behind him singing Give Peace a Chance during the first Desert Storm war... Can you imagine what he would discuss with Obama, and then what he would say about Donald :-)
And often never asked about in interviews with them! Lyric maybe, we all know how Bowie came up with lyrics for example. But they are nowhere near as important as the music....

Wow, this footage is so precious, hats of to yoko for getting these more intimate music making moments for others to view. Oh my Love sounds gorgeous just with John playing the piano, he could have left it at that. One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Life killed him, he smoked because he lived, didn't run away from life, he lived it, that's the lives we choose, we live and die or miss out and still die. Life kills, live it or die trying at no expense to others (/°•°)\
@@soniatwortowen9494 McCartney, Harrison and Ringo Starr were the meat of that band. They could've literally been without Lennon. He was totally replaceable with any other talent.
This is very rewarding to see these people use their wisdom on putting together a piece of music. Absolutely mesmerizing. So lucky to be able to watch this history.
It's not that simple. The chords are pretty tricky. There is one vid of this song where John does not know the chords himself and has to ask yoko. Who I think guesses it!
John Lennon is extremely kind to George Harrison a beautiful connection of trust and faith in one another. Persistence pays off practice practice practice with both firmness and gentleness. Then there's progress in the progressions of a song or of life.
Thank you soooooooooooo much, for this *great* behind-the-scenes, recording footage, The Nostalgia Machine.. I really appreciate that you kept it in its original form... and that you did *not* black out the tape counter or "enhance" the vintage-ness of the audio-video quality. :-) Again... thank you!!
Hello there, Good afternoon. I love what I am seeing on your profile. I apologize for jumping into your comment in such a way. I'm really looking forward to get to know you better. If you're comfortable with it, I'd love to talk somewhere outside the RU-vid comment section. and get to know each other a bit more intimately. What do you think about that?🤔
I held my tear when he started to play... The memory of the song instilled in everyone who knew this song long time ago is so strong to deny. So romantic... yet, it's so sad at the same time. It's like a way to say goodbye to your loved one. ✨💫
Beautiful.. I named two of our children after these two.. Our twins Harrison and the other Julian (Jude) after Johns Son. It’s so precious to me to watch these moments and how it happened.. Lovely..
Because it's such an ordinary thing for musicians to do when they're playing with each other. I think it's just the everyday normalcy of them simply tuning up given the fact that they are legendary musicians
John Lennon,to me the greatest songwriter, musician ever.at least top two.his music has been huge part of my life and will never die.an amazing man and one of the worst lost in music history.R.I.P John gone but your spirit will live on forever
Such a rare occasion. Two of the best artists of the historical beatles. This is the most life changing song of all time. The word "Peace", is what represents John Lennon's principle in life. Both of them are irreplaceable...🙏🤗🫷🙏✌️
I m glad, you like these two songs. Both have a common theme; the dream John and Paul share. This song was written in india ( I believe before the departure of Paul, before John gets suicidal) .I don't really know what is this dream, but I m trying to figure out ,for the last 10 years. It's a theme that, both songwriters , use in their songs . All I know ,is that they believe that they had a common destiny and a way to communicate through " telepathy". For instance, in the "let it be" film, we can clearly hear, John saing to Paul; " I had this dream last night, it was very intense...You were in there too...I was touching you...did you see it? " Paul's response was very calm, like they shared dreams every day! Maybe that's why ,they both were such a mess after their divorce...
Please understand that this Active actual footage at it's original that makes this so very special .If it were live , it would take years to reach us ... Living in the moment :)
My God, that room was filled with so much rock history, from John and George to producer Phil Spector, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins and drummer Alan White. And yes, even Yoko (hell, the song is about her).
Such a pleasant surprise to find this video and rehearsal for a beautiful and gentle tune. Thank you, thank you to everyone involved: John and Yoko, plus George, Klaus, Mal and Phil. Peaceandlove. [Thanks, TNM for sharing this].
Jesse Dutton You missed Ton Tons point: John can play the chords and hear them...he can creatively conjure wonderful musical ideas but still doesn’t possess the theoretical language of explaining what it is. It’s sort of like how a great, studied classical/jazz instrumentalist who understands and can play this great music but isn’t able to write/compose/create himself. It’s a different source/muscle. It comes from an innate place that can’t necessarily be “taught”.”
@@flowerdoodle2438 ...and that short phrase "I don't know what this is" (the first time playing like D), that explained the Beatles success, they were brilliant and had no idea that they were magical, they just played with their souls, John had to call Yoko to figure out what chord he was playing: BEAUTIFUL. There will never be another Beatles.
This and Grow Old With Me by John are the two most beautiful and authentic love songs ever written. OH MY LOVE just gets to the essence of the feeling. Without any bullshit or trying to be clever. Every human being will always hear the truth a out love in this song. And this is only one song written by the amazing Mr. Lennon. Paul sang, no one was saved..and John sang, there's no one you can save who can't be saved..all you need is love, even if you're a nowhere man.
This is such a great moment, as it depicts the great creative moments of the past, as we can imagine that John and George have worked together for well over a decade. In fact this must be in the early 1970s so for those of us at my age today at 65 and a half, my remembrance of first seeing them in February of 1964 that night on Ed Sullivan, we didn't know as young 9 year old kids that they had already been playing for at least several years before we saw them in America. In fact when you look at John and George here now, and realize they've known each other since they were late teenagers in Liverpool, so they have a lot of experience composing and performing together. These are two great masters at writing the most popular and timeless music in history, and composing on instruments at the same time. that is something it's always impressed me because I can play a little bit of piano and guitar but I don't think I could sing at the same time I blame the instruments and keep it in a great artful format. yet alone to collaborate with other musicians at the same time, as this takes a tremendous talent and ability. I thought I had seen about every video there is of The Beatles, whether popular performances, or studio work. But it's the first time I've seen this one. It's also interesting to watch them collaborating with their second great producer Phil Spector, who we realize must use a completely different approach than what they were used to with George Martin in a large professional studio in London. I can ramble on here, but I should probably just bring this to a close, because I wanted to say more about watching other great musicians play instruments and sing at the same time, which I have now recorded many, over the years if only close-up still photographs, as I attended concerts starting in the mid-1970s with my college days 35mm camera and a telephoto lens. I was sorry to have never seen John Lennon live but I took relatively great close-ups of George Harrison in the Seattle coliseum in November 1974, backed up by the Ravi Shankar Indian Orchestra, Billy Preston, Tom Scott and the LA Express, and Robben Ford on guitar. This was George's second night after the opening night of the concert tour in Vancouver BC. He had already reported that he was struggling with a virus so his voice was nearly gone. He mentioned it at the beginning of the concert in Seattle and apologized for his voice. But all in all it was enjoyable to watch, with the huge Entourage of other famous musicians backing up George Harrison. Then on June 1976, I photographed Paul McCartney and Wings, [in two separate concerts] in Seattle and San Francisco, driving to each concert; first my little sister and her girlfriend to Seattle to see McCartney and Wings perform to 70,000 people in the King Dome, [the largest indoor concert in history that night, to date.] Then, a few days later, I drove my brother and I to South San Francisco to see The identical concert repeated in the Cow Palace, to a much smaller crowd, of only about 16,000. I was not a big fan of Paul McCartney then, but it was just something, and interesting to do, and to photograph. [All of these photos can be seen on my Facebook Concert Album.]
@@dickjohnson1158 That's partly bs. For Here Comes the Sun, John was recovering from a car accident. For I Me Mine, he was on vacation in Denmark. For Old Brown Shoe he played guitar, but it was eventually left out of the mix (he did contribute backing vocals though). Savoy Truffle and Long Long Long are the only ones you could say he may have "ditched".

Un país nos quitó a lo mejor de la humanidad, Lennon ...aqui está con su amigo y compañero aunque ambos sean genios de la música demostrando que una mente natural, sencilla y espontánea es mejor herramienta para componer.
And then they scrapped it and just went for piano only isn’t that right? Still so nice to see them working diligently together. Love them both so much.
The real record ended up having John on piano, Nicky on another piano, George on guitar, Klaus on bass, and some little chime bells/cymbals in the distance. No drums. Which is funny because I think that's what Phil is saying with "just the four of you" in this video (John, George, Nicky, Klaus), so I guess John went with Phil's suggestion. All the other songs on Imagine have drums but this one.
It's lovely to see this two Real Composers working in the studio just as many musicians work, I do miss it..making music..and I do miss John and George..
That hypnotic piano line that starts playing at 7:42 is great...Nicky Hopkins. I'd love to hear a version of the song based on that dreamy and more rhythmic feel, I love it. Hopkins was such a beast!
@@n.g.a.e.g.4534 Definitely! I really wish Hopkins had done a solo album, his instrumental versions of all these great songs he played on. Would have been awesome.
yes in a simple strait down the line division you are really on the something but SUPER ironic to me seems those last (2) lps of John's because the songs are way tilted toward the happy. With notable exception "Losing You", which now that think of it I want to hear as perfectly loud as possible in the cleanest sound.
One Lennons more underrated songs. Shame as its a stunning song. For me it's easily one of the most beautiful songs written by anyone ever. It takes you so where else. John was on top form on a Hard Days Night, if I fell being his other top ballad from the album.
