John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band - The Ultimate Collection (Super Deluxe Box Set) Unboxing 

My favourite album of all time. This was a level of genius, self awareness and honesty I have never heard before or since.

I think it shows that people like John Lennon are more than just hits. it shows that they're more than the final recording of a single. you can enjoy 1st takes of deep cuts on the album just as much as the final singles from the album!

This album is pure genius. One of if not the best album of all time. So raw and naked.

The Beatles began when John was 20. He met Yoko in his 20s. The Beatles ended and this album was recorded when he was 30. He was murdered when he was 40. This is a special piece of music. A great work of art.

Returning in July 2024...I have to say YOURS is STILL the definitive review of this stellar album. Very well presented and I so appreciate your respect and excitement for this masterpiece. Thank you for taking such care and love with this presentation.

John, Yoko, Phil Spector, George Harrison, Klaus Voorman and Ringo Starr make this album what it is! Love it!

The box looks really nice, I’m not a big solo Lennon fan, Walls & Bridges would be my favorite if I had to pick one.

Something about that cover has always screamed late 60s early 70s to me. Couldn't tell you why but it does.

I think this album is not just one of John’s best, but I think I’d put it in the 50 best albums, period. It’s so raw and emotional, but at the same time it’s still so catchy and musically interesting

I can’t get over the guitar on Cold Turkey. Actually forgot about this album, and it has all my favorite solo stuff of his on it! I need to pick up the vinyl edition no doubt.

Sadly underrated.Definitely his best solo album.

I think this is the best John Lennon album. Not too fond of his other stuff but this one is something different.

Great unboxing! Thank you for making these. This one and The Who Sell Out one do amazing jobs of showcasing all that's in the boxset in a way that seems genuinely appreciative rather than YOU MUST BUY THESE.

Beatles are a luxurius group

There use to be a bunch of unreleased home tapes from John on RU-vid. Unfinished songs, demos of songs, etc. they were all taken off of RU-vid. I really hope that they get an official release like all the home tapes on the POB ultimate mix. That would be really cool.

I recently was researching the tracklist of this album on Wikipedia and I found of interest that the song Remember was rehearsed during the making of Abbey Road -a song that could have been a Beatles song.

I bought the vinyl and the box set. The book that comes with the box set is amazing really sets the scene for the album. John’s voice seems to be a lot more front and center. Overall an amazing remix!!!

Klaus Vorman (pronounced Klowssss Forman) was one of the 'Exees' The Beatles hung out with in their early Hamburg days. He was also the bass blayer in Manfred Mann, artist on the Revolver album and bassist for the Plastic Ono Band

When I first heard this album, I didn't get it. I was a kid who loved the Beatles, and this album just wasn't "Beatle-ish" at all. The songs weren't very catchy, couldn't really sing along, kind of gloomy, sad and angry or melancholy. I'm much older now. I've been through love and heartache, happiness and sadness. The themes found in the album are so touching and timeless. John truly bares his heart and soul on every track. I love this album.

This is my favorite John Lennon solo album. Per your recommendation I just ordered the double LP version. It should be here in a couple of days. I’m stoked to spin it. Thanks

It's a lovely set for the greatest solo album from the fab four. I didn't get it because I don't want to know how the album was put together for this one - but great for people who do.

John Lennon was OK but he'd have been nothing without the Plastic Ono Band!

I have the cd/blu-ray box and have luxuriated in the hi-res BDs with their deep sound. I can recommend anyone who can get near a surround system capable of Dolby Atmos to listen to the remixed album that way. I bought this to see if I could reconcile with a record that I considered harsh and unloveable and would have sold it on if I was still resistant. Instead I was compelled to get through all of it and to go through the various stages of the recordings, returning to the main album repeatedly. Guess it won :)

I’d love to let you know my opinion on the ultimate mixes boxset but seemingly there’s serious distribution issues in Australia’s mail system of late or that retailers are being let down by supply chain issues due to the pandemic

At 2,30 you can clearly see John's face made out of the leaves right side profile above where John and Yoko are sitting:) Not sure if this was intentional or not?

I think John kinda lost it when he hooked up with Yoko. That screaming he does on the "Mother" track is the same screaming he did with Harry Nielsen when he challenged Nielsen to a screaming contest in the studio. Nielsen's voice wasn't the same after and could no longer hit those higher notes. It's crazy that John game up recording to put his energy on bringing up Sean. McCartney manged to continue recording whilst having bringing up four kids and just took the whole family on tour!

Another Beatle vinyl release that receives the poor treatment. If only they included the books in the vinyl releases.

Unfortunately not impressed with the sound quality of the 2021 RMX RM, so much so, before I return the new version, I did a side by side comparison with my old Capitol 1980 Canada pressing. I can just hear Julian Lennon singing the verses - Father you left me, but I never left you I needed you, you didn't need me So I, I just gotta tell you, goodbye, goodbye Daddy come home John Lennon didn't just leave his son but also left his wife after committing adultery in his family's home and wife's bed! John then filed for divorce accusing Cynthia of being an adulterous! Cynthia then countersued citing John's committing adultery on May 19,1968 in HER home! Cynthia didn't want to divorce John but was forced to by John's disgusting and cowardly act of lying about her committing adultery I'm sure at the behest of his mother Yoko Ono! On October 25,1968, this pair of sociopathic jerks announced Yoko was pregnant and the baby would be born in February,1969, even though John was still married to Cynthia! On November 8,1968, the divorce was finalized with John leaving Julian and Cynthia both chump change! The next day, November 9,1968 the two year anniversary of these two first meeting, they released the repulsive Unfinished Music Two Virgins album with John's penis exposed for the whole world to see! Well, Instant "Bad" Karma knocked both John and his mum Yoko both on the head when she suffered a miscarriage on November 21,1968! John and Yoko defiantly named the unborn baby "John Ono Lennon II" even though there wasn't a "John Ono Lennon I"! John's legal name in 1968 was John Winston Lennon! How could you do an unboxing without even mentioning what was on each of the 6 CDs? You spent most of the time going through the book (???). I would redo this video.

It's all a bit too much. The Album is great....and that is what was intended. All the posters and postcards are rubbish. And then you get 6 versions of each song and that's really going over the top. The demos, the raw versions, the alternate versions, the ultimate versions: C'mon, give me a break !

One of the most raw, honest and emotional albums of all time. I absolutely love it!
