John and Yoko discuss firing Allen Klein as business manager of the now ex-Beatles. John begrudgingly admits that "Possibly Paul's suspicions were right." John would stick by this analysis for the remainder of his life.
It’s crazy to see how young John looked in 65, to how he looks in 73. That’s only 8 years…he looks like he’s aged 20. I’m sure most of the reason is hard drugs but still..
Anyone who’s ever played in a musical group knows how fluid and contentious the relationships, musical interests, money, etc. inevitably become. I cannot imagine the creative and business pressures these young men faced. Amazing they did it as long as they did.
Love John - always honest, always humorous, always witty, but never the most accurate when it came to precise dates or facts! Wish he was still here, causing mischief and mayhem.
John was right again, if The Beatles had reunited (& they had many opportunities in the '70s to do so), they would under tremendous pressure & scrutiny, they would always be compared to what they did back in the day by both fan & critic alike.
The whole time, I’m just watching Yoko, sitting there silently, obviously uncomfortable. She’s always got her piece to speak, but this time, she’s just sitting there, eyes darting all over the place. Her and John were having troubles for nearly a year at this point, and she could feel John slipping out of her talons. Can’t help but wonder what she was thinking here, as her eyes give her away.
Anytime you're in a band, no matter how good it is, you only get to paint a part of the picture. It just got to the point where they each wanted to paint a complete picture of their own.
