I live in California, and I just want to say that I really appreciate the D-Day news/stories on British television. The broadcasts are more thorough and intimate, and I get a better understanding of the veterans' experience. Thank you !!

Very touching and I think of my dad who was in the Battle of the Bulge at 17 years old. It was so cold he said he almost froze and his feet got frostbite. He said that he took a coat off a dead German soldier to keep himself warm. Bless them and heroes all.🙏💖

All gave some, but many gave their all, the ultimate sacrifice of them all THEIR LIFE. Each and everyone a hero. Infinite respect and thank you. I really like the idea of the school year standing next to each one of the silhouettes and then researching them, definitely should be on the schools curriculum, as this should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

For those who survived, the heroes never came home. In 1983 I spent New Years eve in Bayeux near the American Beaches and Cemetery. At Breakfast on New years day, I chatted with a D Day veteran (British) who year after year would come to the French coast on New Years Day to visit his friends grave. Each time he could not muster up the courage. I never found out if this time he did. The men from such humble places in life remind us that he battle to rid the world of evil never ceases.

As an American, I was very touched by the compassion you demonstrated for the remaining British D Day veterans and those buried in the nearby cemeteries. We need to cherish the actions of all soldiers who fought on the beaches that day. I am also sorry for your loss.

My Dad was in the Royal Artillery. He was a prisoner of war in Germany on D-Day. He would have been 29. This broadcast made me cry. God Bless them all. 🇨🇦

Im 33, when i was 11 i did an interview for a school project, we were all given a wwII veteran to speak to. There were so many still around then, so sad to think they will all be gone in another 10 years. That interview stuck with me forever, the sadness he had for lost commrades but the happiness he had seeing me so enthused. I could have listened to him for hours.

Research Hobarts Funnies. Among them was the floating tank. Many were launched off LSTs…but were too far out in very strong surf and got swamped, sinking…and taking their crews with them.🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦🇫🇷🇵🇱

One of the last real heroes, if only those leaders paying false tribute had a small bit of your bravery they don't ever protect the memorials placed for your sacrifice to remember attacked and defaced through dismantling the borders so many gave and laid down their lives defending

"and some women". . . Really? Did "some women" land on D Day? I thought a single female war correspondent managed to sneak into a medical team and landed with some stretcher bearers. But she wasn't part of the D Day task force. She was a rule breaking journalist. I'm not sure any other women landed until weeks later. If I'm wrong let me know.

Rare is it indeed for me to listen to British Media after their bad treatment of Harry and Meghan. I made an exception today due to DDay Memorial. So many heroes. So terrible moving. Neither will I listen to or watch Charles and Camilla, who treated Diana so badly. May Britain take responsibility for how Harry and Meghan are treated. Provide security and a nice home for Prince Harry and his wife FGS!

No, my friend. The most important thing is that you pay tribute to the young heroes that fought and died for you to have the freedom to say that. For your today, they gave their tomorrows. They were Christian, Muslim, Jew, Sikh and non-believers alike, united to stop tyranny and they deserve better than anyone trying to score points when we're remembering them and thanking them for their sacrifice.

People are entitled to their own religious beliefs in the West, which is why you have the right to practice yours freely, but at the same time, you need to respect the beliefs of others. As a Brit now living in Thailand, I show respect for their Buddhist culture.
