John Linebaugh 45 Colt Pet Loads, from Ruger Blackhawk. 

John was my client and good friend for 20 plus years. It’s good to see this video. Accuracy in a Ruger can be improved by reaming your cylinder mouths to .4525 and running a .453 to.454 diameter cast bullet. You might want to try the 270-SAA bullet from Montana Bullet Works.

Montana Bullet works makes great accurate bullet ! The only thing I can tell you is my Ruger 45 Colt didn’t group well with Win 231 powder and a 255 SWC ! Titegroup powder was far better results than the Win 231 !! The game changed for me when I used 9.0 grain of Unique the group was tight ! It was Either Elmer Keith or Skeeter who liked the Unique 9.0 grain load ! I use the same load in my Ruger Vaquero with excellent results ! Great video !

Enjoyed your video. I have a Uberti 1872 open top 45 Colt (7" barrel) that I reload for. I'm using 7.5gr W231, CCI 300 LPP & 255gr JFP, which works great. Prior to this load, I tried 6.5gr W231, but this caused a "squib" load. I then tried 7.0gr W231, which worked OK, but seemed marginal. Anyway 7.5gr W231 is my "go-to" load for my open top 45 Colt.

That gun would look really good with some stag grips

I have a USArms Abilline I loaded the 255 gr, with 2400. My load shoots at 1050 fps. I went three tenths higher with no pressure signs,but I liked the accuracy better with the lighter charge.

Try the linebaugh H-110 load with a 300gr. Lead bullets.

Thanks for sharing. Ive had good luck using ramshot enforcer powder. They have a 45 colt 30k loading section in their manual. A starting load of enforcer gives me 1100 fps from my 5.5 inch bisley, really accurate, and the recoil aint bad.

Love that Ruger with the new grip. Crazy how those 2 groups are so similar. Man I can’t really help you with how to stable your pistol better for shooting. I reckon there’s pistol rests out there, but I’ve never done pistol accuracy testing to need one. Love seeing this journey! Sorry just catching up on videos I missed over the past week.

That Ruger turned out very nice!

I use this same load of 8 grains of 231 behind a 255 grain hard cast SWC. It was listed as a favorite of John Taffins at his web site. I shoot this out of a Bisley Vaquaro. It has had an action job and throats worked by Bob Munden. Best money I have spent on a gun.

I shoot 9 grains of 231 and a Lee 252rnfp cast out of my ruger vaq and Henry carbine. They do the work needed out to about 100 yards. My old model Ruger Vaquero with 300 grain Lee cast with 6.5 grains of Red Dot powder works well for me and my gun. My 444 Marlin is my heavy weight so I don't use too many loads with 110 powder for 45 Colt.

I think your groups would shrink a lot with a better rest. Not sure what distance you are from target. I love the 45C and those heavy flat points. I use 17 grains of 2400 under a 300 grain hcfp. My 4 5/8 Blackhawk will print under 1 inch at 25 yards, A great hunting load. I like to support the barrel and the butt on sandbags. But a great video, sir. Thanks very much.

It sounded better with gas checks . Ive got a moddle 83 Freedom Arms seven and one half Premare modle . If it shoots any better its the length of berrel over what your useing . The five and a half is plenty good for a snap shot on a charging hog with half the weight of the moddle 83 . Thanks for showing your work . T/C/E

Think these would be a good load in my 25. If I remember correctly John used these his 4” 25

Looks like cocobolo grips. Ruger Blackhawk with heavy .45 Colt load is a real bear stopper.

Not sure why he would like that load when 8gr of unique would probably be right in the same ballpark and isn’t a ruger only load
